Denied Barnard ED1, Looking for ED2 Matches [IL resident, 3.65/3.85 GPA, 34ACT, PoliSci/Gov]

What about Davidson?

Just be careful - for schools that track demonstrated interest (Davidson leaves that box blank on the CDS), it might be too late to engage.

I would caution about characterizing the GPA of a “top private school” as an absolute - in theory a 3.65 seen in context could be compared to a 3.85 at another school.

However, the first decile of your class would be 13 students - and if those have wGPAs of 4.2 vs. your 3.85, then I suspect your class rank might have been below that of 90% of Barnard’s ED students.

For the curious, WalletHub calculated selectivity ranks for these schools in a national context:

Northwestern: 9
Barnard: 24
Tufts: 27
Wellesley: 38

Have you thought about WashU in St Louis? You have quite a bit of overlap with my son - Tufts, Georgetown, Northwestern. And he really liked Wash U also.

What about Occidental? In Los Angeles, well-respected, and a little easier admit than CMC.

If you like the idea of a Women’s college, what about Smith or Mt. Holyoke? Neither are in a city, but both have access to the 5 college consortium and a bunch of cute and bustling towns.

Although applying ED would still be the strongest possible way to show a high level of interest.

Yes, if they are EDing 2 but I wouldn’t ED 2 to a random school picking up last minute.
