Did anyone else’s arts portfolio disappear?
They’re just trying to maximize their yield numbers, which have never been good
Did anyone else’s admission officer change?
Yes. We noticed this change late last week.
Okay me too

D25 accepted!
DD got waitisted, but also told that she got $30k merit scholarship? Does this mean that everyone who gets in gets some aid?
My son got accepted with $25k merit. It’s his top choice, or maybe a tie for top choice, but still too expensive. He got accepted into a peer school with a full tuition so he is going to try to see if they will match. Keeping fingers crossed for him.
Congrats!!! Btw, I see in your post history you and your son visited Kenyon- did you like it there?
Yes he did over all. We visited both schools twice. The first visits he liked Kenyon better than Denison, the second he preferred Denison. At the moment, he likes Denison the best and Kenyon is down the list a bit. But it’s hard to really tell. He is trying to watch videos to be a better sense on the typical Kenyon student vs Denison student and the vibes at each. And, he is trying to determine how the science programs compare to each other. But if you take costs out of the equation he would pick Denison.
I would 100% pick Denison’s science department over Kenyon. Denison is really becoming a leader in the DA and CS fields (compared to other LAC’s). The new DA building is going to be insane.
I saw that announcement. That looks great. My kid will be a biochem/premed/music kid so not likely to use the new DA building. But the Chem and Bio building looked nice, and of course the Eisner Center is fab. He is really hoping we can make it work.
That is certainly something unique about Denison - being able to study music and pre med in top notch facilities.
I’ve seen posts where some have described a “typical” student at Denison as a bit more preppy, and at Kenyon a bit more “quirky”. Obviously a gross simplification. Having visited both schools, I’m not sure I understand that comment or maybe I don’t understand what preppy and quirky means. How would you try to differentiate a typical student at either, or just Denison if you don’t know for Kenyon?
I think Denison is diverse in that there are preppy swimmers or lacrosse athletes, but just as many average middle America regular looking kiddos and then there are artsy kids and very much an international delegation. My S24 who is not an athlete but on the conservative side, just did a project and his partners were a girl with some piercings and blue hair and another girl from Taiwan. They had to take a group photo and they all looked happy!
Ooo good to know- I also applied to Kenyon:) I hope you guys are able to negotiate more aid or scholarships with Denison so he can go! Congrats again.
Something I did, I’m not sure if this will be any help to you, was look up (college) class of 2029 or 2028 on Instagram to see the bios of students who are enrolling at my top choices. I DM’d a few people who lived in my city/area and asked how the transition to said college was. Everyone I dm’d from Kenyon was AMAZING- so so sweet and happy to answer all questions :), but I haven’t received many responses from Denison students yet!
