Maybe, colorado_mom. But it was pure luck that we figured this out in time. Who pays for a second opinion on whether a filling is needed? Nobody. And certainly not anyone’s dental insurance (in fact, I am still quibbling with them over whether they will pay for the 2nd opinion xrays). So it is very rare that something like this actually comes to light.

I hope that your D’s actions may cause the dentist to self-reflect and also to cause the dental board to keep an eye out for future complaints. You can’t help things improve by burying your head in the sand.

I was VERY surprised that S went from never having any cavities to needing 5! I guess he got complacent and hasn’t been flossing–all of them were between teeth.
Oh well, I didn’t have any & we both were seen at the same time by the same dentist. We’ve been seeing him for decades & trust him, but it was a big shock!

Intparent, within the last week, my mother saw two dentists for proposed treatment plans, involving thousands of dollars. She doesn’t have dental insurance.
Each is proposing somewhat different treatment plans.

Is there a web site I can check to see if there have been any claims against either dentist?

It is a state by state thing. I would search for “New Jersey State Dental Board” on Google and see what you can find.

Thx ----Intparent
