@BmacNJ My D had 3 implants with 2 requiring bone grafts a few years ago. She had 2-3 days after with a fair amount of pain and swelling. She wasn’t able to tolerate the oxycodone but Motrin worked pretty well to control the pain. She had a lot of swelling of her whole face that started about 2 days after the bone grafts. I would recommend that you be very diligent about using ice packs for the first few days after the procedure. She probably wasn’t aggressive enough about using the ice packs after the first day and I think she could have minimized some of the resultant swelling. Overall the pain was mostly gone after about 3 days and she was back to normal in about a week.
@BmacNJ I had at least 1 bone graft (3 total implants; 3rd going in next week). I don’t remember it being any problem at all. With all mine, I had little to no discomfort after the first day. I never had swelling or took the prescribed pain meds, just Advil for a day or two. Maybe I’m just so used to it after all the dental work I’ve had!!
