Department Of Peace

This reminds me of the Ministry of Peace.

Darn these constant allusions to 1984!

the only thing in common is the name

Oh yeah, we sure need more government spending and more bureaucratic waste. Our government works so effectively that we totally need to create more departments.
The foremost priority of any government should be order. Ours should also include liberty and justice. Government is not, by any means, responsible for something like “peace”. If you really want our government to move in this direction might as well pick up the Communist Manifesto and start advocating a “Department of Brotherly Love” while you’re at it.
Seriously, leave the mushy stuff to individuals and NGOs.

It looks like many of you don’t even know what this is all about, but are giving your opinions anyway.

My Poli Sci teacher told me about this a couple months back, I personally like the idea, and I think we need it.

Besides, I’m for anything that is backed by Walter Cronkite and Flea
Walter Cronkite: http://www.thepeacealliance.org/content/view/170/
Flea: http://www.thepeacealliance.org/content/view/165/

wayupsts,

I feel somewhat qualified in the area. It’s not really a worthwhile allocation of already limited civil service resources.

I consider the Department of Defence to be the Department of Peace.
