jec7843: I appreciate you truly stating your opinion and the TRUTH replying to this particular post.
metdethGNR: The TRUTH is, many many people are in the same boat as you are. The dream is to go to an ivy league school, coming from a small town, and a small high school, with parents who work hard and dont make a lot of money, taking the hardest classes you possibly can, overwhelming yourself with so many extracirriculars, hoping, praying, that someday you will make something of yourself and go to that “school of your dreams.” HOWEVER…no one deserves to get into that school. Sure we all work hard, and have a lot to show for our efforts, we all have tough backgrounds, and have worked hard our entire schooling careers to make sure we have the best credentials for getting into that school. However, you take it to the extreme and declare yourself as an automatic choice. I’m brillant, and deserving, and blah blah blah.
My advice to you is to revaluate your motivations. Do you want to get into that ivy league school because it is “IVY league” or is it the best school for your future. There are many fantastic schools out there that don’t have the IVY lable attached to them…Get your priorities straight and seriously consider all the possibilies. Don’t give up on your dream, but stop assuming that you are the only one in that situation, and think that your story makes you deserving of getting accepted to that type of school. If you continue to work hard, and achieve success, you will be happy no matter what college you go to.
