Daughter in with $35K merit. Grateful, but will probably pick a different school and release the spot. $45K is great!
My son was accepted, but havenât received anything on merit awards
There was link to a separate letter in the portal under the admissions acceptance letter, I believe. We didnât get anything in the mail.
Merit was released with acceptance decisions I think. Is anyone else going to admitted students day next weekend?
Did anyone get an admissions folder in the mail? This was Ds earliest RD acceptance, but the only one she hasnât gotten an acceptance packet from yet. Wasnât sure if Dickinson didnât send them out yet (or doesnât at all), or maybe hers got lost in the mail.
In 2021 and 2023 cycles, Dickinson admissions package was a box rather than a folderâŠmaybe it takes longer as a result? I donât recall the timing from previous years, but the difference in type of package/mailing may have something to do with it?
Thanks! She did receive a box with a baseball hat within a few days, but wasnât sure if a typical admissions folder would also be sent (the kind with a copy of the admissions letter, usually some brochures or important info, stickers, etc).
Did you receive an aid letter in addition or was the merit award in your acceptance letter?
D24âs merit award was in the acceptance letter. Is anyone else going to accepted students weekend this weekend? We can only do Saturday but weâll be there.
Based on the accepted student day a few years ago, I highly recommend going to the faculty panel if theyâre having one. My S also reached out to a professor (Poli Sci) before the admitted student weekend, and the prof offered to meet with him and then walked all over campus with him talking about Dickinson academics (it was Covid times so everything was outside). Hope itâs an enjoyable and helpful event!
Yes, we are going this weekend. Can only make the Saturday activities.
Anyone got in from Nepal?
Couldnât attend Admitted Day-how was it? Any impressions?
My son is committing this week. He doesnât know anyone going, and isnât someone that scours social media. So, heâll likely arrive not knowing anyone. How off will he be?
Warmly,
Moria
My husband took our daughter to the open house this past weekend and were both very impressed. They said the campus was lovely and the students and faculty that they met were all very enthusiastic. My daughter liked the vibe on campus and in the town of Carlisle as well. It has definitely moved to the top of the list.
I think many students arrive at college not knowing anyone (or maybe one or two people). I think the flurry of social media the summer before appeals to some people, but many, many kids opt out of it entirely- and even among those that do participate I doubt many lasting friendships arise that way. Lots of schools do pre-orientation trips/service projects those do seem like a good way to meet people if available.
