Michigan has a lot to offer to non Ross kids that want business exposure. My cross campus transfer engineering son who wants to combine engineering and business to go into management just got a $5,000 grant for a club they started through https://www.optimizemi.org/home/ The person that started this group is a Michigan alum that was listed in .like Forbes or Inc magazine for one of the 30 under 30 people. Great mentor. Just awarded last night since they started a club on augmented reality. This was just two months ago. Once they were listed companies started to come to them to give presentations twice a month. Y - combinator(think seed accelerator for airbnb, reddit, Uber, $50 billion dollar company) reached out to them from Silicon Valley through a Michigan alum. They put my son and some other students on their brand new student advisory board. Yesterday they just found out they were awarded a $10,000 grant from https://lsa.umich.edu/bli/bli-fellows/capstone-experience11.html.
Next year he will look at…
They do real consulting in groups for real companies. Many come out of this with real consulting jobs!
There are a lot more organizations like this at Michigan and other colleges also. You can start a startup and get seed money through Michigan etc etc.
These examples all lead to business skills and have nothing to do with Ross. Companies will take notice when things like these are on your resume.
But again, Kelly Business school is great with a great campus. Just don’t ever regret your decision. You never want to say “what if”… If you want business school then go to business school. It shouldn’t make a difference which one.
