Did the UC aPPLICATION SITE, JUST CRASH?

You said everything that needed to be said hm5933. You didn’t spend enough time on them and you don’t feel confident in them. I don’t know what else to say to you. If you haven’t submitted your application, you still have 24 hours to fine tune it a bit!

i wanted reassurance not that :frowning: and I submitted it already. I didnt think it was a big deal bc not all UC’s read them. why waste your time on something that isn’t even going to be read when you could be focusing on watching the big bang theory? :stuck_out_tongue: ahha jk *focusing on school work that’s going to determine your gpa

To my knowledge, Irvine doesn’t read the applications to the extend that Cal or LA does. Your strongest if not only suites would be your GPA and if you completed the pre-reqs.

But definitely put as much work as you can into your personal statements. Have it edited by a family member or a friend and for your sake turn it in soon!

monday night and i still haven’t started…

this TAG really has me spoiled.

As for who reads the personal statement, I think what they mean is how much does it weigh in their decisions. The application is only the conclusion of something you’ve been working on for a long time. It’s not more important than your grades, and don’t expect it to work miracles if you’re barely scraping by on GPA.

Takes all kinds to make a world. :)

Everyone’s stressed so let’s just let it go and focus on the UC site crashing, which it hasn’t by the way. It’s still as fast as when I first opened it.

Well i just finished my app, i poured my heart out in the 3rd personal statement and cried. I am content with myself with how far i have succeeded, being accepted to a UC is just icying on my cake. but i reallllly better get accepted to uc davis. >_> bla blah blah point is… if you’re writing with your heart the essay should take no less than an hour.

if this year is the same as last year, crash may occur around tonight til tmr.

inb4 physical education major w/ 4.0

Are any of you guys submitting your application later tonight? I need some late-night transfer buddies.

Do you guys think I should send in my apps right now (12:39am PST) or wait until 12 ish PST to talk over my statements with my counselor one LAST time?

Arandomsocalguy: most people would probably say now, but I think just for your sense of security, tomorrow. To be completely honest, the server does crash when it does get too the deadline, they usually extend the deadline when this occurs.

I say wait until you have your final sense of security

Thanks, spark  I was just unsure since everyone was going crazy over how the site crashes so easily on the last day. I also heard some rumor that it might not be extended if it crashes this year? Do you know anything about that?

I didn’t hear about that rumor, but I think if you turn it in right after you talk to your counselor, you should be fine. As long as it’s not like 7PM tomorrow night, you’ll get it in.

Alright, thanks for the advice!

If anyone read CalBerk’s posts all the way through on this thread, one can OBVIOUSLY tell from an unbiased standpoint that he is actually being a realist when it comes to College Applications. In my opinion as long as your application is good and you turn it in the last day because you want to make everything perfect, that’s fine! but don’t hate on CalBerks because of his harsh TRUTH. Yes, what he says is the TRUTH. And yes, CalBerks has been defending himself throughout this thread, some people stated that he should not butt-in in other people’s business, but isn’t that what we do here in CC? butt-in to try and get some information and help out? by HELPING OUT it does not mean giving a false sense of reassurance which the original person CalBerks was talking to wanted.

i believe it is true that if you procrastinate, you will not make it BUT if you are a fairly well writer and can whip something up quick yet effective, then you’re fine.

lets all criticize me, i have been smoking marijuana since last year, but i have been passing my courses, i have been having a drinking problem but i got my TAG approved.

a person has the ability to control themselves despite procrastination. I just STARTED my essay a couple of days ago, because I have been busy with school AND i have been looking for the right prompt, I’m from an underachieved lifestyle but I AM NOT going to be writing a typical cliche sad story essay. Just because many people have submitted early doesn’t mean their essays are of quality, everyone that applies to UC don’t even have the stats anyways, so you can already eliminate about 20-30% of its applicants. Then eliminate about another 10 for not even having pre reqs completed, and maybe like 5% for actually being under the 60 units threshold. Then possibly 2-5% of those who decide to go to a private…

so that can be anywhere from 30-60% of it’s applicants eliminated.

Well basically the site just crash. Going to be a long night!

u guys have 6 hours and 13 mins left to submit.

Good luck to people sending it today.
It must be stressful. If the site does crash, I suppose you could go on at an outrageous hours to submit your app. There’s also a grace period, but I suppose waiting for that is just as frustrating.
