One little app that I love on my android (I assume iPhone has something similar) is ColorNote, which is like having an endless supply of post its with me at all times. I use it for shopping lists, jotting down a book I hear about, etc. Today while I’m at my mom’s, I’m going to ColorNote the measurements of her crocheted throw, so that I can make the next one a little bigger.

A smartphone is something you never thought you needed but once you have one, you wonder how you ever lived without it.

I think the iPhone version of ColorNote is Notes, which comes preinstalled with the phone. As Lasma says, it’s great for writing down all kinds of information you want to save. I use it a lot.

The iPhone camera is good for what it is, but the dinosaur looking cameras are still good for what they do. The best camera can be the one you have with you when you need it, and the cellphone cameras fit that criteria. However, it saddens me to think that people will forget what a good photo can be, in the same way that I’m saddened that most kids growing up on MP3s have no idea what a real drum or acoustic guitar sounds like.

So, I use my iPhone camera a lot, but if I want a good photo, I still pull out my (almost 5-digit costing) dinosaur and take photos in low light at high shutter speed without flash which an iPhone would show as a hot pixilated mess.

Snowball,
I got to confirmation texts for my one phone. It will come from AT&T not apple. And try doing a hard reset of your phone (hold down the top and center buttons simultaneously and do r let go til the apple symbol comes bac on the screen) and you might get back Internet by clearing everything.

IxnayBob, I agree but some of those moments that are rare, it’s best to capture with an iPhone than none.

My Galaxy has something called Swype. When I’m keyboarding, I don’t have to tap each letter. I just swipe my finger around the keyboard. It has more than doubled my typing speed on the phone. Does iPhone have something like that?

What is Netflix?

I’m happy that my “new” vintage purse has room for either of the 6 series phones.
When the craze dies out, I will make the decision about which one to get.

It’s a way to watch great BBC series in the US. I hear it also has many fine films and little-known US series. It’s a great deal and my whole family is legally allowed to use it for $8 per month (I heard it went up to $9).

Sort of less than persuasive. I would like to think I wouldn’t become one of those people. But I suppose everyone thinks so. Food for thought.

“What is Netfix?”

It is a company that was started with the sole purpose to drive Blockbuster out of business by an irate customer who was charged $30 or so in late fees and his buddy. Thanks to them, we can now do what IxnayBob described in his post. :)

One of the few things I will credit siri for is letting me dictate “note to self:” and then remind myself of something and it goes into my notes folder. Then all I have to do is rem, ember that I have something there to look up.

I’m not trying to persuade you of anything. :-)

Agh. One on the pitfalls of typing on the iphone-- autocorrect (I guess I could disable that feature). Snowball-- I got two emails, not to emails.

yeah, I know. your post was very honest.

As a card-carrying curmudgeon, I appreciate that. :)

FYI thumper, when I tell siri to call someone in my address book, all I do is push the center button til the mike symbol appears, tell her who to call, and when the call is dialing I hit the speaker symbol. The phone stays in my lap while I talk.

It’s a lot easier to take a selfie, and post it on FB with a smart phone…than to use a regular camera!

^^^Yes, and now you see 60 year-olds taking selfies in restaurants and mountaintops and sending them to their kidsl (guilty as charged.) It’s great to show your adult children that you’re not too old for a good time- without them!

iPhone 6 Plus has sold out in the US - no more available till October!
