Happy Pre-Thanksgiving and Chanukah Sameach

The Tyvek jacket was supposed to go bye-bye as soon as I warmed up- which I never did! Clearly I should have worn one of my 10 or so nicer running jackets! :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We have no kids home, so are going to friends’ house for dinner. H is baking pies right now. It is 25 degrees outside NOW, and I am simply ecstatic that I am not running a race in the morning.

Have not run since Saturday. Weather has been dreadful. Did a 3.5. mile walk today. It was so cold and windy that tears were pouring out of my eyes. Felt a little guilty when a young woman ran by me on the sidewalk but not enough to brave the elements.
Neither of our kids will be here for Thanksgiving. I had already bought all the food thinking S2 was coming but found out this afternoon that he has to work tomorrow. Guess DH and I will be eating leftovers for awhile. Happy thanksgiving everybody.

The much ballyhoo’d storm of the century never materialized here in New Hampshire. It was 60 degrees this afternoon and a light rain. Big whoop.

I made it to the basement for a good solid workout. Tabata planks (thanks Hops!) and ValSlide painful pushaways for core. Med ball slams and jumping up to the weight bench for power.

Then, did my little 4-station stroll round the weight bench three times: goblet squats, 3 pt rows, DB step ups, and DB bench press.

Thai curry salmon with snow peas, red pepper, and brocolli for dinner. Yumm.

My girls talked me into going to a Zumba class - felt like Pizzagirl for an hour!!! :)

I bet I would be bent over panting like a dog five minutes into a Zumba class… Definitely not my forte… :)

Yeah yeah, you SAY that idad, but you’re also the resident airdyne champ :)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I have no idea what I’m doing up at 5:30 except to say my body doesnt seem to know it has the day off!

And UBC, re 2 lbs fat or muscle…normally youd be correct thats possible but in this case I actually suspect its more like a form of inflammation when I end up having refined flour products, which I did on Saturday…I am technically mildly allergic to wheat and largely gave it up almost a year ago when I started my “slow not a diet diet” that includes tracking my calories to remain conscious of intake and generally not having bread products in the house. In the case of this weekend, I didn’t eat technically an extra 7000 calories, which is what two “real” pounds would take, but I did eat things I usually don’t, including more things with wheat and sugar  Another “pound” has slid away in a day, which for me, usually means between a wee bit of exercise and eating cleaner, the inflammation has settled down :)

The above has become my little dance called maintenance as opposed to actively seeking weightloss, and if I don’t do the dance, things tend to get away from mr, because at heart I’m an epicure :)

Btw, happy 5+ pound part, Musicprint, and thanks for the article! That will help motivate me during my periodic tumbles off the wagon!

MomWC, you look like a very fit “bag lady” and pretty edgy in that tyvek. I’d call you a trendsetter :)

And Abasket, indeed, I’m sending up similar thoughts of gratitude on this day of thanks, including the good humor and moral support of this thread! So back atchya :)

Happy Thanksgiving/Happy Hanukkah!

deb922 - MY grocery store is next to a TJ Maxx… That’s where I found my Brooks running jacket at a great price. I may have to go back to check out down options …

We’re headed to our traditional gathering at BIL & SIL’s. H is freaked out about possibly getting stuck in traffic on the MA Pike, so we may end up on their doorstep early. I’m hoping the media hyped “big storm” yesterday got everyone traveling early so we can leave/arrive at a more normal time. SIL is extremely gracious, but in her place I know I’d be annoyed at people showing up extra early …

H will eat whatever and as much as he wants today. Since he’s down 50 pounds, he can get away with it. Me? I look at the dessert table and gain weight. I will be conscious of every bite.

Ha - Zumba is one thing I’d never do! Too much coordination required.

Forecast is 25 degrees for my turkey trot … Brrrr.

Pizzagirl- It’s 16 degrees here for the Turkey Trots, and this is the SOUTH! Let us know how the trot goes! I haven’t budged from the house yet.

Done! There were about 6000 runners/walkers in this event. I wore a running turtleneck, t shirt, light jacket (NOT $450), long tights w shorts over them, and headband and gloves and was just fine warmth-wise once I got going. The coldest part of me was my hands. I had a a GREAT playlist - best one ever - and ran at a steady pace. I’m still at the 12 min mile neighborhood, but so what - it felt great. I almost started crying, I was just so proud of how far I’ve come on all of this. Happy TG to all!

CONGRATULATIONS to Pizzagirl on the finish, but more importantly, the confidence and the continued progress! Proud of you. Nothing wrong with that pace and very good that you kept it steady. Hands are tough- H and I were talking about how it is hard to predict how warm gloves will be from looking at them. My best choice is the material that iDad and I talk about (he can describe it better) in our Marmot (and my REI) tights etc. I have gloves of that material and they tend to be my warmest. That said, I generally think mittens are warmer, but they can be a pain as far as music, zippers, watches, etc.

WildChild and his girlfriend are setting up their bike trainers in her parents’ home in NJ to go for a long ride. Doesn’t that sound fun? (not)
H and I are heading out for a run- up to 29 now. I’m trying for 5 miles. We’ll see.

5.2 miles done. 30-34 degrees with a south wind that wasn’t awful but cooled things off on the way back. Started with H until he turned back at 1 1/2 and went to Starbucks while I did my last couple of miles. Beautiful clear blue sky. I’m liking this running in puffy clothes! Wore last year’s yellow “What the Fluff” Lulu pullover. I REALLY like the underarm vents, which the new jacket also has. It is like taking the lid off of a steaming pot when you unzip them. I always thought it was stupid to run in down stuff, but I’ve changed my mind.

150 miles for the month with a couple of days to go- better than the last 2 months.

No, no. Running in down clothing isn’t stupid. It’s running that’s stupid!

After the run, I did a hot yoga class (yes my studio is open) and it felt soooo good just to be in the heat! And I have to say, there are the beginnings of a six-pack …

Happy Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, everyone.

Yeah, but my half mile Airdyne intervals take 1 min 20 sec. And, trust me, I’m bent over panting like a dog… just not quite as badly as I used to. I haven’t tried the dreaded mile intervals in a long time. I guess I might have to give them a whirl some time.

Congrats to Pizzagirl on the Turkey trot this morning.

And, to MOWC and FOWC for the cold run in stylish fluffy down. And to parents of GF of WC for putting up with long rides on trainers in the basement on Thanksgiving day. I can just picture bringing them their turkey dinners on paper plates while they ride. Just like an aid station… :)

Me? Unless I get a crazy urge for Airdyne (no likely), my exercise will be vicarious – on the couch watching football. And, eating prime rib with horseradish sauce and fresh asparagus…

Congrats, Pizzagirl on your turkey trot! Yay to the six-pack! ;)

MOfWC, I think we are about even now - I looked ay your post and… one antifluffy down hoodie from Lulu is on its way to my house. The UPS guy either loves me (yay job security) or hates me (argh, not this long and steep driveway again!) by now.

Going for a run! Gorgeous day, and not too cold.

LOL Bunsen. What color?

Girlfriend 's parents did something cool. The place settings for WildChild and his girlfriend were the car decal ovals- 70.3 for her and 140.6 for him! (Half Ironman and Ironman distances). One of my friends has an oval with DNF in it. I thought it would be fun to have that if I had quit Monkey.

MOfWC, it is the lovely turquoise which Lulu calls “surge”:

[fluff off pullover | women’s long sleeve tops | lululemon athletica](http://shop.lululemon.com/products/clothes-accessories/jackets-and-hoodies-hoodies/Fluff-Off-Pullover?cc=12838&skuId=3517708&catId=jackets-and-hoodies-hoodies&filterType2=function&filterValue2=run)
I doubt that I am going to use it for running, but it will be quite handy up at the Nordic center. ;)

4 miles, then raced to the kitchen to deal with the aftermath of a minor water leak. As the result, the turkey is about one hour late…

Those decals are really nice. What a thoughtful idea!

Blame it on me! It’s all my fault and I’m still waiting for my new down hoody to arrive.

Love the turquoise…

My prime rib and asparagus was awesome. I decided to splurge and opened a bottle of 1977 Grahams Vintage Port. I’ll have a glass for dessert. i don’t know if Robert Lustig would approve, but since I’m probably the only person in America who resisted pie and cookies and cake today, he’d probably forgive me…
