That video just gave me horrible flashbacks.

After losing a competition, coach told us, after an hour PT session, that we had to do 50 burgers or 10 superman push-ups. Everyone did the additional 50 burpees.

Many of those moves, my workout group does. I’m pretty sure the leader has a fitness book or source that he gets these from. Or he’s extremely masochistic…

Pizzagirl - thanks for the recommendation. I found their website, but it looks like they only offer classes in the western suburbs. I did use the ‘contact us’ tool to email them and ask them if they know of anyone in the northern suburbs who offers these classes.

In fairness, the Santana pushups in that video were at the end of a non-stop ten exercise circuit that started with burpees in the first slot. Poor Svetlana was completely gassed.

I actually first did the T-pushups in the Spartacus Workout.

Alas, I’m not explosive enough (at all?) for any of those. I can sort of do a pushup lifting off the ground a bit, but the landing on anything like that is hell on nearly 60-year-old wrists and elbows and stuff.

The closest I come is going from an elbow plank straight up to a regular plank – one of iPod nazi’s really mean core exercises. I can do that one, but it’s not easy.

One version does up and back down starting with one arm, then the other. Another version is popping up on both arms simultaneously – really hard…

Terriwtt, for deep water running I use the Aquajogger flotation belt, water shoes and wrist “weights” with the hand foam dumbells during the summer…and a missing it now! It is possible to work up a sweat if you go long enough and fast enough with enough resistance, and creates some nice overall toning. You don’t need classes, just the gear that comes with a DVD for form. You can “run” (use running form) but you can also switch it up with Nordic-style ski movement, using the hand weights for extra resistance.

It’s great low-impact work but do take care because it is possible to injure yourself if you go off plan and try silly stuff like imbalanced flys with the foam weights…I did pop a rib goofing around :)

The hill was brutal, slow and completely snow covered again…I did half the distance in my normal time. Good grief. On the bright side, I suspect my legs are getting good work slogging through the drifts. So on windchill day 2 I’m just going to do it again and see if I can get further. Because it feels awesome on the way back down Think ill limber up in the hot tub first.

I think part of the reason this thread is so useful to many of us is that we know we aren’t going to be able to do 50 burpees no matter who screams at us to do so, and that’s ok because it may not be a relevant goal for our fitness.

Of course! I forgot that was Svetlana! I agree most of the guys are gross hulks. Although- someone in my women’s running forum posted a picture of some VERY nice abs!!

I was wondering about the “50 burgers”. That sounds better than burpees to me!

2 degrees here this morning. Slight breeze so felt like -10 or so. 2 miles with the dogs. They don’t care. I would have loved a hot tub afterwards! Probably another treadmill day today.

Eating better (not perfect, but BETTER) and making exercise truly a priority has finally made me feel in a place I want to be in my life. I love how I feel. I’m liking how I look. I know it’s GOOD for me. I like the image - looking and living the life of someone who takes care of themselves. And, I LOVE SHOPPING FOR ACTIVEWEAR - seriously! Makes me SO happy!

Because of all these things, I want to “coach” people along and give them not only the knowledge but the motivation and WORTH to do it for themselves. Happy to be the glass half-full person!!! "
