I, too, hope ows are on the mend and snuffles are subsiding.

Teri, your post was very timely. Just a few days ago I noticed a young man filming someone who I suspected would not like it if he knew it was occurring. I had a talk with him. At least it wasn’t in a locker room!

Back from a weekend in NOLA! We ate extremely well but did not have dessert once! Brought S back some pralines so DH and I split one when we got home.

It was a weekend of much walking. Crisscrossed the French Quarter, and also did a lot of walking in the Garden District. Such beautiful architecture and trees!

I have a stiff knee from a misstep I took, however. The sidewalks are very uneven…old & bumpy concrete, bricks or other old materials with tree roots trying to displace them…and I nearly fell into a hole and felt something pull slightly in my knee. I hope it will be fine when the swelling goes down. It’s always something…

Pizza girl and MOWC, I just saw the comments about the person in the spin class exhorting the instructor to go faster and I had to laugh. My daughter routinely tells her riders that if their legs are going faster than hers, she will get off her bike and turn their resistance up, lol. Putting aside that it is just rude not to follow the cadence and other instructions the instructor gives during the workout, as MOWC notes, excessive leg speed is an invitation to bad form and injuries. That’s why my daughter is insistent that her class follow her lead on cadence and always dial up enough resistance to at least avoid spinning out.

Lack of resistance is never my problem on the Airdyne (exercise bike for dummies)! It was, however, the motivation for replacing the old brake-shoe exercise bike my wife had bought at a church sale. I could never get the resistance right for faster intervals. Scary to have an ol’ fat guy pedalling at break neck speed with no resistance. I’m lucky I didn’t hurt myself. I probably would have pulled a muscle, except I didn’t have any…

Got in my mini morning hike yesterday–beautiful, crisp and faster than usual. Mch theorized that my speed was up because I was ire-fueled over the electrician messing up my newly isolated hottub circuit…now it keeps dipping into Econ mode and dropping the heat as if the power is interrupted overnight!

Also got in my evening kb circuit so overall, a good behavior day :)

I try to front load the week because everything tends to go to hell by the weekend that is in part because there are incessant gunshot echoes up in my woods. My own land is posted, but all the land along the trail isn’t.

I think this weekend I will have to get over to the conservatory to get some decent miles in without fear of becoming slow trudging quarry :)

CBB and idad, glad you are both feeling better!

kmcmom, I agree with the front loading policy!

Yesterday, my friend and I ran 3.5 miles outside, around Back Cove in Portland. It was not much of an effort since my friend is out of shape. So late afternoon, I got on our treadmill and did another 4.1 miles. Total of 7.6! I can see why people do doubles! The second run felt really good.

I’m still eating too much, though, because my weight just won’t budge. My body shape is looking better, though! I have a waist again.

This afternoon, I go for a massage. I get one every month to month and a half. :)

I started yesterday with good eating behavior and finished it with homemade peanut brittle (a tin I did not avoid at work) and pizza. At least the pizza was very thin crust and I didn’t eat too much.
Got a couple miles in this morning before the snow pellets and wind gusts of 40mph started. Daughter finished her track workout just before it hit, too. Will go to the gym for weights and some more miles on the treadmill after work.

Pizza sounds really good right now! At 10:17am…!

I know it’s January, I know it’s Ohio, but the weather has really been trying this year for any outdoor activities unless you are on skis or skates. The one day I was able to run outside last week is just a memory now and no chance in sight for me to get out again. It’s a bit discouraging!!!

Because of this I’m trying to get a little more creative at the gym and mix things up . I CANNOT do 36 loops on that indoor track and keep my sanity!! Trying to tell myself that adding in other components (rowing, running elliptical, treadmill, maybe some machines) is just as good paired with a 1.5 mile track run (only 18 loops!!!).

Also miss being able to walk outside at lunch on non-run days. My gym is actually here where I work (though a .5 mile hike to get to it - that’s ok) so I could take a daily break and go walk there - but that’s the same dang track and loops!!!

6.21 miles on the treadmill, then a shower followed by a massage. My therapist said I’m terribly tight. I HAVE to start using the foam roller daily if I want to keep running, she said. Yikes.

A few years back I knew a woman who went in for rolfing sessions. That sounded pretty intense…

Last month when I bumped up my mileage I definitely felt it. It wasn’t as much mileage you’re doing, ML, but I imagine when your legs are more accustomed to the increase it will ease up some. You’ve been doing awesome! Me, I’ve intentionally scaled back some so I can better balance with strength workouts. That’s just what I’ve wanted to do, but I don’t aim for the longer distance races. I like 5Ks.

I really need to get a foam roller - do you think the running stores will carry them??? I still have on and off annoyance in my right hip area and from what I’m told here and what I’ve read, the foam roller is suggested. Assuming I can find what to do with it on YouTube .

Target has a pretty decent foam roller selection. I went there when I was looking for an additional yoga mat. Didn’t end up getting it from there. Although, their yoga straps looked enticing.
