Am home and after finishing the best-tasting Subway sandwich I’ve ever had, will settle in for an afternoon of naps. Got a clean bill of health, so I’m good for ten years! Yahoo!!!

Northminnesota… procedure was nothing. It was the prep yesterday that wasn’t fun, but I did manage to keep it all down. Best of luck to your H today.

Great news teriwtt! H should have been home by noon to start his “prep” work…no sign of him yet! Hope his goes as well as yours! (He is a big baby! ;))

I doubt very much that she IS getting her heart rate up into challenging zones. I probably wasn’t clear, but that was the essence of my point. The problem with doing the exact same workout for five years is that your body acclimates and the heart rate no longer goes up, especially on some kind of steady state cardio thing like swimming laps. If she were to hop on the Airdyne (or if I were to swim her laps), we’d both be using completely new muscles and both be seeing elevated heart rates, almost guaranteed. Here’s a great example. I can ride the Airdyne pretty hard for 30 minutes. Yet, put me on the road bike and I’m gassed and my legs are burning after the first three hills. Even those two activities are using muscles in different ways.

I’m not at a level of fitness where this acclimitization is a huge issue. Pretty much everything still gets my heart rate up. I still try to pay attention to mixing it up and to push a little when my current workouts are starting to get a little comfortable.

Thanks to Cardinal Fang for motivating me on the interval portion of my iPod workout today. I pushed back up to 75 rpms for the final two intervals on the Airdyne. Heart rate at 93% for the last one.

Good news. I recovered 21 bpm in 60 seconds pedaling slowly after that. That’s just over the border into the “good” range from “fair” meaning – I suppose – that I’m less likely to keep over dead during tomorrow’s workout than I was today! No heart attacks today, but I did fall off the stability ball once. That’s a tradeoff I’ll gladly make!

My take on the whole thing… the absolutely worst part is drinking the stuff. The resulting effects seem like a piece of cake once you get all the stuff down.

Oh, and the other bad part is being very, very hungry when everyone else starts in on their dinner (and if you guys are having weather like us, it seems as if everyone on your block is grilling out and all the smells waft through your open windows!) and you can have… jello.

You know, I never believed all the complaints about drinking the stuff. How bad could it be? Well, it was BAD. Torture really…a good way to pry secrets from me in the future. The procedure was EASY…only weird thing was that I was awake (although didn’t feel any pain). Don’t think that’s supposed to happen. Doc waltzed in and said…I have news…and I say “yeah, I know, I’m clean.” It was really strange…what I didn’t tell him was that I heard and remembered all the nurse/doc banter as they were doing the procedure…thankfully nothing offensive…but certainly not what I expected to hear either!

Next time I want more drugs! And you have all reminded me that my next time is up right about now. Terri…glad you did well. NorthMinn…hope your DH did too.

^^^^They want you to be awake but sedated because they might need you to cooperate re: positioning at times. The unusual thing about your procedure is that you can remember it. Usually, the patient is kept sleepy but conscious, but the meds cause you to forget it almost immediately.

I’m with you-that’s a memory I could do without.

Many people say that the prep goes down easier if you keep it really really cold and mix it with crystal light.

It’s the “wellness” part of the thread. But yeah, probably enough details for now.

The weather has turned gorgeous here…so no excuse not to exercise. Out for a walk today and lots of biking over the weekend. But “Danger Danger, Will Robinson”…eating out and attending parties will probably undo it all. Maybe I should be like my BIL…he brings a piece of salmon to family dinner parties and throws it in the host’s microwave…lol.

Your BIL wouldn’t have that problem in my kitchen. I would stop inviting him.

Reminds me of the time I had a young vegetarian relative coming so I made this incredible homemade eggplant parmegiania recipe from Marcella Hazen. None of this breaded eggplant and packaged mozzarella stuff. This was hard core classic Italian with homemade sauce, fresh grated parmeggiano reggiano cheese, fresh basil leaves, and so on. Literally to die for. I’d make it every week except that it takes so long.

She wouldn’t eat the cheese or the eggplant (because it was lightly sauteed, no breading). No homemade vigagrette dressing on her salad because of the oil. She ended up eating lettuce and some tomato sauce. Ever since, she gets a **her **choice of frozen vegetables at Thanksgiving dinner.

We’re back! Seemed to go well but there were two very small polyps. She thought they were fine but now we wait for the results. H is resting and actually in a pretty good mood! :)

Glad to hear it went well, NM. Yeah, two small polyps – I’m sure they are nothing, but the bad thing is that the doc will want to see your DH sooner than would be standard. And do the whole thing all over again. :(

Did a little over an hour walking this afternoon – my extended hilly, river, state park route with some back roads, cinder trails, and wooded trails. Might have been the beautiful cool weather, but my fitness level on the hills has improved dramatically. Of course, I got home, cooked out, sat down, and now my legs have stiffened up and I can barely walk. It’s all good.

Oh, and I officially moved down into smaller jeans for the second time – my third different size jeans since February. I’m going to get one more downsize. Two more might be asking for too much. We’ll see.

Am I the only one still working out here? Come on ya’ll pump me up. I need to hear about some sweatin’ and heavy breathin’ and shin splints and stuff to keep me going.

iPod nazi workout for me today. Two circuits plus Airdyne intervals. Felt pretty good. If the weather isn’t too hot, I’m going to try to crank it up next week and go for the full three-circut Phase II workouts.

Did hard intervals at the end today: 20 seconds hard, 40 seconds easy. I always dedicate the last interval to Cardinal Fang and try to crank up the rpms. Did the final 20 second interval at 70+ rpms. Pretty tired.
