~ 4 mile park run. 36 degrees, chillier than I was expecting. I had a beanie with me so it was fine.

5 mile greenway walk along a pretty gushing creek with DH this a.m. Sunny and 60 degrees. Yucky weather predicted for rest of week…ugh. So that’s 17 miles walking and 12.25 miles running for the week.

Sabaray, if anyone’s goals are going to be deemed annoying, to others on this Board, I’ll nominate myself! :)

With my preoccupation with wattage, LT, VO2 max and AT numbers, I could make peoples’ eyes roll back in their heads. At least I’m sparing everyone listening to me drone on about Total Stress Scores and Interval Power Scores. Just wait until riding season starts and I become preoccupied with power/weight ratios and caliper tests of % body fat! I may even bore myself to tears.

Back home from my half. I felt really good, and it was actually a really enjoyable run. I was only 5 min faster than my last one, but I felt 100 times better. I was really able to control my heart rate. I had horrible calf cramps, but at least they waited until after I finished. I ate a banana and my legs calmed down, so I wonder if I have potassium issues. Thank God they hand out bananas at these things. I got a really cool surf board medal, burned a bunch of calories, and just had an all around great day!

Congrats and thank goodness for bananas!!!

A personal best today for distance/time - 4.2 miles , 46 minutes - at the gym so a combo of track and treadmill - a little bit of walking to get from one to the other! Those Super Bowl snacks at home apparently were motivating. :)

Yay, blankmind! Fantastic!

blankmind- That is a HUGE PR! We celebrate 10 second PRs in my running world! Congratulations!

This pretty much captures my week in Kona for Ironman. At least I was in Hawaii! :>

Congrats, blankmind! That is awesome.

Congratulations, blankmind!!!

In the woods I think blazes are probably easier to spot in the winter, and of course footprints if you aren’t the first. The only issue would be wear the trail is paint on rocks, but that is usually only on the peaks. There always seem to be crazy people who get out on the trails way before I do!

The local park I hiked in last week had WHITE blazes on the trees for trail markers. They were impossible to see in the snow. The ones that worry me are the hikes with arrows painted on the rock slopes – arrows that are buried in snow. That where I would want to be familiar with the trail. But, I’m a wimp. If I’m going out hiking in 15 degree weather, I want near 100% certainty that I’m not going to get lost! A few hours of wandering around hunting for the trail would get old very quickly in those temperatures! Fortunatetly, I’m easily amused and don’t mind going back and doing familiary hikes to get me through the winter.

Kudos, bkankmind!

Familiarity hikes are pretty much ALL I do…from my own land and then along an easement and trails through adjoining woods…and I still have to admit that a week or so ago I got turned around in a longer hike and heavy snow and had to follow deer tracks to figure out how to get back to the easement Clearly, I could not be trusted on a mountain in winter
The first time I did the trail at a nearby conservatory in the winter, I’d missed the turn for the short loop and eventually got back…at sunset!

I don’t watch a lot of football these days, but in terms of performance, I’m left wondering if Pete Carroll isn’t onto something with his yoga and meditation training for his team. They seemed indominateble in an almost supernatural way. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. One mind on the field. Wow!

It’s Monday morning and mommusic is sorry she watched the game AND the commercials. I don’t know why, but this year I sat on the sofa next to DH for 3 hours! Unheard of. And we had wings, homemade fries, and beer. And that’s my true confession for today.

Time for stretching & dumbbells, and I promise to go for a long walk today, since the “wintry mix” went south and missed us.

It poured cold rain here all night but at least it’s not icy. Our yard is once again a sea of mud. Was at the gym at 5 am; dreadmill. Wet walk with the pups afterwards. Hi-ho, it’s off to work now.

Deborah T, congrats to your Seahawks- they were definitely the better team yesterday! I just wish it had been a better game…or a game period.

Yes, hope you enjoyed your victory Deborah T!!! A major victory at that!!!

12 12

Mommusic/momannoyed- did you have to change your screen name?

Icy rain all night and some black ice in places on the roads (and all over our deck). Brought indoor and outdoor clothes for after work. We’ll see. Yesterday’s treadmill run was really tough- boring TV (mid afternoon) and my legs were really tired from the 12 on Saturday.

The game wasn’t too exciting, but I had predicted a Seahawks win. Terrific and fun party at my CEO’s house. Incredible house and too much food and wine. There were about 8 TVs going throughout the house.

Slipped and fell on black ice on my driveway this morning while taking the mail out. Fortunately I don’t seem to have hurt myself. Multiple storms coming this week, one could leave 6-10 inches of snow.

Spring cannot get here soon enough.

Yay blankmind! Great time. Have to catch up with the rest of the posts here.

In 48 hours I might be able to get back to running…

notrichenough- Hope you are OK! That’s my worst fear…
