How awesome is it that an American wins the BM this year? Golden for him, I’m sure.

Very awesome, abasket! It is a gorgeous day for the marathon! One of the nicest I can remember in over twenty years! A course record was set for the female winner which makes the day even more special. For the first time ever, there are barricades all along the course. A reminder of last year. I am glad this anniversary will be in the past and I pray that the survivors will continue to heal with the love and support they have received this past year!

I was so excited. I was almost in tears when Meb won, except I was in a Very Important Meeting and just following along on Twitter with my phone under the table. I couldn’t scream or cry. He is my absolute favorite runner and the nicest, classiest person in the world. He makes me proud to be an American. Plus- Nike dumped him a few years ago because he was too old. GO Skechers!!! I thought he was going to get caught, too. I have a picture of me with Meb! The woman was just insane. Not human! Shalane went out way too fast.

Our own BB will have some good news to report, according to my athlete tracker! I think it might have gotten a little warm for the later finishers.

One of my young friends was 47th overall (37th male) with a 2:23:56.

Thanks for those tidbits MOWC. Can’t wait to hear BBs report!! And yeah that Mel is a deserving guy in other ways than just crossing the finish line first!

I saw BB in the marathon! I was watching for her pink hat and bib number (we’d communicated pre-race) and just caught her going by. I yelled her name, but she was very very focused on finishing. She looked great just a little ways from the finish. We didn’t get to meet because I couldn’t stay in town. This was my first Boston Marathon and I had a blast. People are so enthusiastic and encouraging.

Yay! Glad you got to see her. How exciting. It is such an incredible event and this year was particularly emotional for many runners and spectators.

Wow, thank you all!!! I finished and am alive! The phone could not connect to the Internet - grr @ AT&T that is the official cell phone provider for the race, so I just got to CC to post a bit about my run. The race was HUGE, the weather was too hot for my tastes, and it was a such a very emotional experience, so I took my time to actually enjoy the run. I knew that with all of this going at once it was a stretch to even try for a PR, so I stopped on the way and took lots of pictures. Mr B was very worried about me because I sort of disappeared in the middle of the run - it was the baby kiddo’s school’s Scream Tunnel, and I high-fived the young ladies and hugged them and videotaped my run. I had so much energy left in me that Garmin was showing 7:50 pace for my final stretch before the finish. I felt extremely safe, and when I had a chance, I made sure to thank the volunteers and the police for being there for us. When I got to the hotel and learned that an American man - Meb- won the guy’s race, I almost cried. I did not know that Nike dumped him. Take that, Nike and I’m officially dumping you! I am also very happy that Tatiana won the wheelchair race. She was born in Russia with spina bifida and adopted to the US. Her adoptive mom knew that she had to give this girl a chance when she saw her at the orphanage - walking on her hands, because she could not use her legs. Oh, a small observation - I spotted a few Lulu skirts and tops. And I showered and went shopping at the mall convenienty attached to the hotel. I will post some more - we are off to eat now. :)

Congrats, BB!

Your race sounded great. You seemed to more than enjoy it. Congratulations!

Yay! BB! Sounds like a fantastic run!

What a great story BB! I personally love that you savored the moment(s). You are an inspiration!!

Congratulations BB.! It must have been such a moving experience for you. And such a significant one too; this year’s race will no doubt be inscribed in the history of sports and you were a part of it.

Yay!!! (kicking self ) D was there at your “baby girl’s school”, I should have arranged for her to have a sign for you so you could have met her! So happy for you!

Congrats BB! Sounds like a great experience! Personally I’d be happy for one 7:50 mile but to do it at the end of 26 miles. The mind boggles! So happy for you.

Congrats BB!!! So very excited for you! What an accomplishment! Way to go Girl! :)

Sounds perfectly done! I really almost cried, too, about Meb winning, but I held it together in my meeting. My daughter cried all through the elite races, she said. SO glad you had a great time.

BB Congrats. Watched the “choppy” live stream at the office today. What a great experience for you.

Thank you, dear CC friends! I’m so happy that I decided to run Boston! Mr B was very, very impressed with the way everything was organized. He felt that even as a spectator he was participating in a huge celebration. He had a wonderful time watching the frontrunners, then he went to the hotel room and watched the coverage on TV and then went back to watch for me. So happy Boston got the marathon back! May the cowardly terrorist rot in his prison cell forever forgotten and never forgiven.

Marathon maniacs managed to sneak a few tutus and wild hairpieces onto the starting line. I should have taken more pictures! There were some amazing signs and some really clever ones, like “you legs will be very tired from all the a** you are kicking today” Loved the group of college kids serving “beer” in red plastic cups - those were probably the only disposable cups they had on hand. I think they even had a keg out by the side of the road. The Scream Tunnel had one prof (or a mom?) waving the sign “Mad scientists run on ATP” - loved it! Pizzagirl, maybe your D saw a lady (that’s right, real ladies run marathons ;)) in a pink cap and bright red shoes who stopped, whipped out her iPhone and started moving slowly, filming the crowd. She also yelled loudly, “Go Blue or go home!” and gave hugs and high fives.
My body is in pretty good shape despite some blisters on the feet and sunburnt back. That one I did not count on - put sunblock on my face, but totally spaced out about the shoulders! People are not supposed to get sunburn in April. LOL.

Yeah, but just think about all the lovely Vitamin D!
