How about a small back pack or back pack purse??? Do you need to carry a laptop?

There’s this but you don’t have the lower bar, right???

MofWC, do you have fingerless bike gloves? Maybe you can wear them to keep the palms of your hands from blistering? I wore my bike gloves at the office when I worked in the place that did not have a heater where my cube was located - to keep my hands from freezing off.
Ahh, the joys of dog ownership. :)

I just ordered this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HE5IITE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1</a>
It’s very cute. I apparently threw out the (hideous) Vera Bradley backpack I used in 2007 when I did the 12 weeks on crutches. We were looking for it this morning.

I don’t have to carry a laptop unless I’m traveling and even then I try to get by with just the iPad and I have a great computer backpack (company provided) for the laptop, so I’m good there.

I’ve started my healthy eating plan by eating a cupcake (it wasn’t huge) from a box that my on-vacation boss received for making a best lawyers list! It was very good.

MOfWC, that is an awesome backpack! I ordered a tote in the same print - perfect for traveling to move D and her kitties later this summer.

Added a pair of some Altra shoe that was rated well (and was 50% off) to my Amazon basket. Since I have used the new Hokas on the trail, I need a new pair of treadmill shoes for those days when I come home really late. We shall see how I like them…

19 mile bike. Sore behind lol! Had ice cream

Cute backpack MOWC!

If it were me, Fido would be getting poked in the ribs with the end of a crutch until he moved… :)

On the bright side, you are going to get jacked in the shoulders from crutching around. You’ll have a set of guns by the time this is over!

"If it were me, Fido would be getting poked in the ribs with the end of a crutch until he moved… "

That would be Mr B. I would do as MOfWC did. :)

LOL. The odds of Charly moving were slim to none. It was easier to navigate over him. The cats are NOT impressed by the crutches. I’m trying to figure out the best way to milk this thing at work. I may do a work from home day one day a week. AND- wear my running shoes. I want the cushioning in the left foot and I don’t want them to get lonely!
iDad- it seems like the crutching is pretty good core work, too. Right? If you engage your abs and focus on the swinging through the strides.

Your shoulders and upper arms will be so buff! ;)

Ok, the Altras that I bought are called the Torin. Last pair at 50% off. I put them in the basket to research later and darn single click shopping…

I like Torin. Good deal!
My underarm fronts are killing me. Feel bruised from the crutches. Wine time.

I would think so. And, it must the lat muscles across the back of the shoulders like crazy.

Learned a new “stupid Garmin trick” yesterday. I set the watch to give an alert (beep and vibration) every time I went up (or down) 100 feet in elevation. Fantastic motivation on the uphill leg to get the alerts. Kind of like a “hundred foot party”. :)

I usually leave the watch on a screen that shows TIME, DISTANCE, and HEART RATE %, so these alerts give me a bit of added info without having to scroll to a different page.

I for one am glad it’s the weekend. I would like wine but am not allowing it as I want to lose a few more pounds. I’d also like ice cream, deb! After work trip to Costco to stock up on the basics again. Salmon and asparagus for dinner. Short two miles this morning.

MOWC, Sabadog would be right there with Charly - camped out in the prime location. I approve of the idea of working from home one day - not having to drag into the office would be a nice respite, I would think. Can’t hurt to ask! Would give your arms a break.

I have to ask - I’m not really sure what I should be doing to train for a 10k. It’s July 4th. Currently I’m running 2- 3 miles on M/F/Su; 5,6,5 on T/W/Th; and a longer run on Saturdays, anywhere from 7 to 10 miles depending on the weather when I get out there. No real rhyme or reason to it. When I finished the half plan I was doing and ran the race, I took almost a week off and then started up again. Any suggestions?

Hopefully we’ll all be back after the server maintenance is completed. I’m just getting the hang of this again.

Sushi, salad, and a light beer for me tonight. Exercise today consisted of a 2 mile walk tonight with H and a morning walk through a nature preserve–probably 3 to 4 miles altogether of sandy to packed trail terrain. I stopped frequently for plant observation  I even found a new orchid, well one I haven’t seen before. It was in the upper 80’s by the time I finished, sunny and humid. The yellow biting flies were mean. I’m guessing my total change in elevation was a few feet. Seriously. I-dad, your Garmin settings would be worthless here. But I worked up a good sweat, in spite of it. Here’s video of the discoveries (the music is not so hot…I haven’t found much to suit in the free section) :

Happier crutching tomorrow, MoWC! The backpack is cute.

I’m taking a road trip tomorrow to the southern part of the state to look at a huge piece of property and its cypress swamps and pine forests. Hopefully I won’t be devoured by mosquitoes or alligators :o

Sabaray- your mileage breakdown sounds fine for 10k and half training. You might want to add some gentle speed work. Just pickups or 2-4 minute accelerations, maybe even 2-3 half mikes during one of the mid-week runs at 5K pace,

PlantMom, nice, as usual. I think your videos would be fine even without music. There are some really nice soundtracks from the old Soviet movies that D used in some of her videos - just instrumental music. I do not think the soviets would go after her for copyright infringement.

Ran 4 miles last night. Tonight’s plan is to give my “orbitals” some attention. ;)

That’s a lot of miles and a lot of days of running Sabaray - no break days???

Awesome photos, plantmom. Your terrain and my terrain couldn’t be more different! I don’t envy you walking in that light fluffy sand. That stuff will wear you out.
