“I also lifted up my 19 pound cat a few times.” That’s one big cat!

Back to cereal: I eat plain cheerios all the time, usually topped with some fruit like half a banana or fresh berries. I use them as a base in a trail mix as well, and mix them with raisins and dates, nuts, and sometimes the goldfish cheat. For breakfast I also like hot or cold grapenuts --but I top them with maybe 1/2 teaspoon of maple syrup.

I am glad to see the video of the single leg deadlifts. I did them two days ago, and was very wobbly, not to mention in poor form with the ankle turning out.

Okay, finally able to run again since last Thursday. Went nice and slow 4.3 miles on trails. Just the right temperature, great company, fairly flat. It was just what I needed for some physical movement and mental relaxation.

Got home and didn’t do any dog presses with my 52 pound Springer. He greeted me like I had been gone for weeks.

Inspired by idad’s post, I did a bunch of those single leg deadlifts last night and am paying for it today - my butt is quite sore. I can do them way better with my right leg than with my left, no surprise here.

Well, my exercise buddy sprained his ankle. :frowning: I hope it heals soon.

Wishes for fast healing for Mr. BB!

Went to hot yoga (75 min class) after work (well, left work a little early). It was a good class for me. I didn’t get dizzy at all and didn’t have to lie down. It’s a good feeling.

Not getting dizzy or having to lie down is a good thing!

Hiking tomorrow. I bet that day pack feels very light! I’m going to try to not sprain an ankle.

The single-leg deadlift is similar to Pilates moves. I remember moving the leg forwards and backwards, balancing on one leg, with arms outstretched…great stuff.

Oh, dear. The ankle is all swollen and looks bruised. :frowning: He says it is not really painful - I trust him, since Mr B does have a low pain threshold (I would not trust myself). Ice and Vit I as prescribed by doctor BB!

Hope mr. B is on the mend in no time after dr. B’s rx ;)

So, I ventured out of the compound last night to the local picnic pops put on by our symphony at a local ski area. It’s been a while since I’ve been out in a crowd around here, but by god I was astonished by the number of humans literally too large to walk comfortably. I mean, they shuffled, they lumbered, they limped!

It made me realize how comparatively limber I am these days thanks to the evil hill and my food management efforts, however backsliding and wagon-tumbling said efforts might be at times. I saw that I’d been heading that direction too. And was infinitely grateful that I’ve been able to wind 'er back a bit, thanks in no small part to this thread.

It drove home for me just how dysfunctional we’ve become as a society. By dysfunctional, I mean we’re animals, with these bodies that are designed to DO things. And yet, we’re kinda bloating out of the range of “utility”, presumably due to inactivity and an addiction to highly altered foods that our bodies just aren’t meant to process well. And psychologically, is our relationship with food a “stand in” for something else missing? Purpose? Love? A sense of belonging? The notion of community? It just all struck me as very sad. Sad especially to see these young, bloated children eating crap like its a carnival who barely stand a chance to enjoy physical activity because they’re already too far gone to habituate it without a Herculean effort.

Don’t get me wrong. I am neither a skinny gal nor am I likely to be with my build and proclivities. And if I’m out with the triathletes, I still turn up on the plump side of the equation  But it was a bit of a shock to see so many seriously-mobility-impaired-morbidly-obese people in one place to not get to thinking about how we’ve gotten there,

Ouch. Hope Mr. BB gets better soon!!!

It’s been great weather to be outside - running, gardening, biking - hard to decide which to do each day! Bringing my running shoes on a quick Chi-town trip this weekend.

Hope Mr. B’s ankle heals up quickly. Knock on wood, it’s been a while since I’ve done that, but I twisted my ankle and did face plants twice while fitness walking. a couple years ago. Hurts like heck. The trekking poles have saved me countless times hiking. Feel the ankle start to roll, slam the pole down, and get the weight off before it goes.

Walked a mile and a half up and down hill yesterday in flip flops and had a bout of cramps in my shins. I thought it might be shin splints, but I think it was just a misplaced Charlie horse. Will wear real shoes next time!

Mr B says thank you! He is doing better today, but I will keep an eye on him.

Did some weights and push-ups and some more core stuff last night. The weather decided to make my running a bit miserable - approaching 90 degrees during the day!

Go swimming!
The weather is why we didn’t go camping in eastern wa this week, it was 97f. We thought we would go next week.
D went backpacking without us & reportedly had a great time.
However next week it going to be even hotter.
So I may stay on this side and hike.

Don’t be drinking anything when you watch this video review of the Runsie!
Well done, Runner’s World!
<a href=“First Look: The 'Runsie' | Runner's World”>http://www.runnersworld.com/fun/first-look-the-runsie

Saving this up for the bus ride home. :)

MOWC lol, lol, lol!

I saw that this morning and immediately thought of our two fashionistas! Too funny.

I totally think iDad needs to order one up.

Runsie video was funsie, lol!

Today I did a 1.25 mile warm-up jog, followed by a R. Cosgrove Strength workout. This series (II) has isometric squat exercises that get me every time. Whew. I spent the early part of the afternoon washing windows. Blah!

2 mile walk after work. It seems to be OK to walk, although I don’t like it. I think I would be better walking courses where I haven’t run! It’s frustrating to have it take almost twice as long.
Long work day- 7am meeting that lasted until 10 (offsite) and then all sorts of other stuff throughout the day. Over 10000 steps for the day, though, including the walk.

I’ve been a pretty good sport about this injury, and will try to continue to be patient, but I’m going out of town next Thurs-the following Wednesday and will be away from my yoga and swimming. There don’t appear to be options for yoga where I’ll be in PA and, believe it or not, WVA. May get to do a little lake swimming, but I’m usually fearful of some scary creature! I’ll have to just walk and maybe aquajog in the lake.
