abasket, I got (and love) the RunTimes shorts. Back zipper pocket, two little pockets in front for gels, drawstring to tighten the waist, very comfortable. I feel much more athletic in them than I do in my Nike Tempo shorts!

This is the future: Planet Earth after the Tim Noakes Revolution
Guarantees heartburn for all those Tim Noakes lovers or haters who ignore Benjamin Zander’s Rule #6 - “Don’t take yourself so seriously!”

Ill have to look at those.
D wanted me to get her some Patagonia strider shorts which I did, but now she says they are too short. I think they are 3 1/4", so maybe 4 or 5" would be better.

That’s my problem ^^^ I have decently long legs so many shorts are SHORT.

You mean, like this? :)

LOL, iDad.
I think both Athleta and Title 9 have shorts in different lengths. Most (not all) of the Lulu shorts are shorter. I think there is one called Run Groovy that is a little longer. It might have been replaced by something with another name. The popular shorts, the Speeds, are not short short, but are fairly short.
Also, Oiselle, which makes really good women’s running stuff, has their popular Roga short in a longer length.

That’s funny stuff. Noakes is creating quite the stir in South Africa with his heretic views on nutrtiion. For those who don’t know him, he’s a marathoner/ultra marathoner sports science professor who wrote one of the best selling books on distance running.

http://www.amazon.com/Lore-Running-Edition-Timothy-Noakes/dp/0873229592</a></p>

The book included the usual nutrition recommendations – heavy carb loadings, sugar sports drinks/gels, etc. Alas, Noakes found himself gaining weight and diagnosed with pre-diabetes. He completely reversed his approach to nutrition and how now become S. Africa’s most charismatic and visible voice for low carb eating:

Needless to say, he’s created quite the controversy. We tend to be pretty fond of our carbs…

Here’s a short TED talk he gave on challenging beliefs. Very charismatic entertaining speaker. Maybe the accent?

Well, looks like running is out for me for the next few days. I just had a minor surgery and am home now, but my doctor looked me in the eye and said no running tomorrow. He is also a friend and he knows that I would do a MOWC and try to sneak a run in the omorrow if I was feeling fine. I think it’s a good sign that I was very disappointed not to be able to run tomorrow, my trail race 5K day, because a year ago I was looking for excuses not to go for a walk or run.

So, I will sit today and most of tomorrow. Looks like I will pull a chick flick night tonight … Gotta milk this while I can while living with 2 boys (H and S).

P.s. Disclaimer: Am still on some kind if drug while I typed this … Don’t take me seriously whatever I just typed.

Basement for me. Good solid punch the clock workout. No video today. I know everyone will be SO disappointed! :)

Now, I have to wolf down a monster salad and start overnight fasting for blood test tomorrow. No midnight snack for me. :(

Ran 1 mile before work. 3 neighbors yelled that it was good to see me back out there. I planned to go to hot yoga at lunch, but work got in the way. I made it to the 60 minute class at 6pm. I’m beat.

Wow, get better soon, Snowflake!

Speaking of exercise - just a little will do wonders, apparently:

<a href=“Running Just 5 Minutes a Day Can Help You Live Longer”>Running Just 5 Minutes a Day Can Help You Live Longer;

Off to replenish my fountain of youth! ;)

Changed things up tonight - delightfully cool outside - D2 and I went for a 6 mile bike ride - it was fun. :). Rode PAST the ice cream place!

I did about five minutes worth of idad’s kettleball routine from a couple pages back. :D

Abasket, no worries, I ate B&J’s tonight for you. Husband and Son know that ice cream always makes me feel better, so there were 2 different pints to choose from today.

Another day off–although I didn’t go to the gym, I didn’t sit down all day. We rent out our vacation place in August and I’m madly trying to get it ready for the renters who arrive on August 2nd. I scheduled an appointment with my trainer tomorrow because I knew that it would be easy to blow off training this week.

And five minutes of that is gracious plenty! I was sore from it the next day. It seems so easy at first. The deadlifts are a piece of cake. But, the push presses at the end are diabolical.

Here’s the link again:

<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

A moderately paced 5K. Phew, I’m tired! Running in 75 degree weather is not fun (for me).

Be well snowflake!
Bunsen, I wonder if the same applies to aquajogging? I suspect not ;)

Unseasonably cold again here this morning. Good thing I’ll work up enough sweat on the hill to enjoy my few minutes in the pool! (And I’d better enjoy it for what the heat that’s rolling off said pool like fog this am is costing me :wink: )

I did something different yesterday - ran in the am, then in the afternoon went to a water aerobics class. There are two “types” of classes - one group is for rehab/truly old geezers and the other is targeted more toward fitness. So, cardio drills, aqua barbells, lots of fun stuff all in deep water. You could make it as easy or as challenging as you wanted to but it was a lot of fun. I definitely plan on doing it again. I felt my calves cramping up a few times but otherwise it was a good workout, definitely good for mixing things up.

Chilly here this am too - 51 degrees right now! No complaints from the dogs.

Look at us getting all varied in our workouts! Running, biking, hiking, aqua-exercising, swinging balls!

Hope you’re on the mend Snowflake!
