I’ve been noshing on Bing cherries for midnight snack. I recognize it as the sugary dessert that it is, but better than any other sugary dessert options.

Had water aerobics at the outdoor pool today.
Which was fun except they have childrens lessons in an adjoining pool and about 5 showerheads.
The young moms are totally clueless about the number of people waiting for a shower.

I knew it!!! I should run marathons in July, because during the cherry season, I stuff myself with cherries like there is no tomorrow! :)

I forgot about cherries! I’ve been eating a lot of them, too.

Today at lunch I walked over to our new corporate HQ, which my group won’t move into until Sept. A few people are in already and our food service (fresh the night before, honor system shelved prepared sandwiches, salads etc) is open. It was a cool, beautiful day, so I met a few people over there and we ate outside. It was probably 1/3-1/2 mile walk for me each way. I had a moderate sized chicken salad sandwich that had pecans and was really good and a small container of fresh fruit. I was really happy with the experience. It all felt better than piling in the cars and driving to a crowded restaurant and talking over all the noise. Our new fitness center is going to be really nice, and opens out onto a walking/running path that connects into a nice neighborhood for running. I’m happy.

And summer peaches! They’ve been spectacular this year. We also had to harvest a ripe bunch of small(er) bananas, although they’re kind of a year-round fruit : that’s some 60 bananas that ripen in a matter of days. Most will end up in the freezer for future smoothies.
I went to the gym and alternated running and walking on an incline for 5 minute intervals.

Plantmom, Have you tried this?

Thanks emerald. I haven’t done that, but I bet it works well. Frozen bananas definitely add body and a creamy texture to my smoothies. Another job for the Vitamix!

Jealous of your facilities MOWC - I’d never want to retire!

A standard breakfast the last two weeks has been a scoop of low fat cottage cheese with about a dozen pitted bing cherries halved and a sprinkle of homemade granola. Addicting. Love cherries.

Suppose to have a rest day today but it is so nice and cool I caved in and did a 2-mile run.

The city is in the Armageddon mode! Major Seafair events are happening this week, and my commute has not been exercise-friendly, especially today. Plan on doing some weights and such when I finally get home.
Momwc, your new facility sounds awesome!
Sabaray, I’d never heard of FODMAP for IBS but I’m with you on the no-hummus-I’m-out ![]()
Ranger KMC has some trail maintenance to perform in the near future or her hill hikes are going to become increasingly Nam-like. Nothing drastic like the utility co., mind you, but there’s another tree down on my forest trail, and some areas where the brush as overgrown to the point its difficult to get through, especially with the netted hat, which the branches like to playfully remove ![]()
I’d lie to get up there this weekend with my trusty battery operated little chainsaw, but have a sister coming for a visit. Wonder if I can convince her this would be a healthful way to visit
I suspect she’s anticipating daiquiris in the pool…

Thanks to MOWC I’m now craving chicken salad with pecans. I like red grapes in mine too.

Yesterday was a rough day food wise. One of the attorneys I work with brought me a box of dark chocolate sea salt caramels in an attempt to bribe me to do more work for no additional $$. Ha. I put them in the kitchen but ended up eating about four of them. Did weights and elliptical at the gym.

KMC, we could use your bushwhacking skills dealing with our backyard overgrowth. Sounds like you’re really getting a functional workout on the trail!

Datqaris by the pool or chainsaw on the trail. Tough choice for your sister!

I went to bed last night thinking today would be a good day for a hike, but the National Weather Service worked overnight changing the forcecast from Mostly Sunny to Persistent Clouds and afternoon showers with Friday now the Mostly Sunny day. Given my druthers, I think I’ll take Mostly Sunny on Friday!

This weekend trail whacking is on my schedule too. It’s a trail I’ve tried to blaze every summer, but while I know where to start and where it needs to end, I’ve never figured out how to do the middle. A whole group of us are going to finally try to resolve the issue this summer as part of the Annual Meeting of the land owners.

I ran/walked five miles with my running partner this morning. Low 60s and cloudy. It felt much easier than last week. At coffee afterwards, my friend’s nephew walked in with a local architect we’ve done business with in the past. So it turned out to be a good marketing opportunity! A lot of this business is reminding people we’re out there, still kicking.

@mathmom, good luck with the trail whacking! I love doing that. A great way to burn calories, too.

Wow emerald great link on banana ice-cream!

The FODMAP worked for one of my clients, took 3 months before started back introducing one food at a time to see what was their trigger. They eat Paleo.

We spent yesterday taking the chainsaw to 8oaks to start seasoning winter wood, watched a hive of honeybees form a black tornado formation: hover over our zinnias, sawtooth palms, then disappear into our mango tree; their hive is the size of a football; called a bee keeper to bring over an empty top bar hive to see if they will move. Woke up today with poison ivy on my arms. Sure didn’t “see” it while we were mulching the vines in the oak.
Headed to the salt water now to dry it up.

Anybody Have Runner experience in the reach the beach relays?

3.1 miles of straight running (slow) this morning. Still feels hard. 58 degrees, which ties a record low for this date! I wore long sleeves, although I would have been OK with short sleeves. I wasn’t sure if I would walk or not. I would have preferred today to be a yoga day, but it wasn’t going to work with my schedule, so I’ll shoot for tomorrow morning at 6am.

Had a pretty special business dinner last night which food-wise I did NOT want. There was wine, but I think I probably only had 2 glasses (sort of a continual pour…). No dessert, one small piece of French bread, snapper with sort of a high-calorie sauce, I suspect.

The bushwhacking sounds hard!

The chocolate caramels sound fantastic. I would have probably eaten the whole box.

Signed up for my first race. :)

Awesome. How is the hip doing?

Yay, Niquii. How long is the race? Also- the hip?

So I’m doing a couple weeks of blood pressure recording in prep for my physical (because I’m sure it will be off the charts in the doctor’s office – I like to hand him a chart of the prior two weeks).

The monitor records blood pressure and heart rate. First thing this morning, when I was still half asleep, saw my lowest ever resting heart rate: 47 bpm!
