Look at the overall time for now, MOWC! I know it’s disheartening but you had a bunch of stuff working against you in this one.

Exercise the last two days consisted of walking on the beach–not sure of the distance but was an hour each time.

Caught two bluefish on Friday–drove my H nuts because I caught the first fish! H smoked the fish yesterday and today I made bluefish pate–incredibly delicious and almost no carbs. I put it on cucumber slices instead of crackers.

Hearing how much fun you had, it almost makes me want to go out and my little 5K walk/jog circuit around the neighborhood. Talk about a struggle… I bet that I’d be bent over panting like a dog… If I could only find my hot dog costume!

MOWC, hang in there. If I was hot, humid and just over an injury, I would have probably been annoyed at Many things, too.

I walked 4 miles round trip for a Labor Day BBQ. Hip apparently doesn’t like walking, either. Now I’m nervous that I am more injured than I thought. Will find out more on Friday. I may have to kick a stuffed hot dog if I find out my running is done for this summer

MOWC - hot dog runners are typically pretty fast runners! My daughter was thinking of applying for a job with The Cleveland Indians for the ketchup, mustard and onion runners they have between one of the innings. I think you had to be able to run 800 meters in 2:30 to qualify for the job . That’s equivalent to a. 20 or 21 minute. 5k! Seriously, you more than anyone knows how fast you can lose your race speed when you haven’t trained. Plus you’ve been only doing the low hr stuff for a couple weeks and haven’t done any speed work . I think 10:44 pace is pretty damn good considering the heat.

Thanks. It was horrible. It really was. Ohio- this was just a Sonic PR guy dressed up like a hotdog. He obviously can run, but I don’t think he’s going to be winning any awards. He was yelling stuff the whole way, which was meant to be cute and funny but just annoyed me even more. Like, “Come on, Catch up!” (get it- Ketchup)

I’m visiting the southeast right now, and I just walked 2 miles and my feet were dragging and I feel exhausted. The heat and humidity is unrelenting. I cannot imagine running. MoWC, you did your best under the circumstances and that’s worth a lot.

Last night we went to one of those Brazilian steak houses with unlimited beef, and the night before was a traditional southern food place with fried chicken, biscuits and corn bread. OMG too much food.

As much as I wanted to continue my holiday nap, I suited up and headed to the basement for a primal beast workout, slinging some weights around. Nice solid workout. Warm up felt great. Core was good. Box jumps were very good. Single leg deadlifts, TRX pushups, DB front squats, and 3-pt row were all fine. Now the heavy exercise – lifting about a ton of BBQ off the grill! Won’t take much to psych myself up for that lifting!

Did an OrangeTheory (anyone else tried?) and a 1 hr bike ride with H, but I’m up about 5 pounds due to all my travel, and not happy. But … I still can’t run as fast and as far as MOWC!

I’m thinking I would probably be spitting bad looks at any hotdog on a race yelling at me to “Come on, catch up!!!” (ketchup!) Haha, omg, that kind of cracked me up picturing this hot dog yelling that…

Regarding the heavy race shirt , MOWC. I’m convinced you can tell if the marketing/event person in charge of the race shirt ordering is an exerciser or not by the type of shirt ordered - be it color, fabric or whatever. There is one race here that YEARLY has this heavy dri-fit type shirt with extra panels and “short” sleeves down to your elbows - who the heck wants to race in that!!!

This is our corporate team shirt. The race shirt is just ugly. The team shirts are nice looking, and for much of the year are fine. For the hot races, we simply must have singlets. I’ll start working on that as soon as I get to the office tomorrow.

3 dinners of beef short ribs (including the one I ate tonight).

My smoker was still going strong after 10 hours when all the food was off. I shut it down and will see how much charcoal was left. I never looked at the fire or added a single briquet for the entire 10 hours.

Funny how that works, idad…long weekend and your freezer is full…Long weekend here and my freezer is empty I see a trend…

MomWC, sorry your race was not a happy one, but go get em on the singlets. If your team person orders from giordana, tell em to order waaaaay in advance. Happen to know the Italian factory has been subject to significant delays this season! Watched em blow a deadline by six weeks…

I suspect we have some readers of the thread who don’t necessarily post - the articles might be of interest to them. I also thought there was a good explanation of some of the cholesterol terms that I frequently find confusing.
