Great time, C3Baker! Tough conditions, too!
nrdbs4- I hated that wind in Dallas, especially for cycling. It ALWAYS seemed to be windy. I think when I moved to TN I really loved that it wasn’t as windy because there is so much more terrain to break it up. In Dallas I never could avoid it.

Congrats to C3Baker! Fully impressed!

30ish minute run just wrapped up before it gets dark. The dark stinks but the run in close to 60 degree weather was fantastic!!!

I think I read once that Dallas is one of the windiest cities in the US, but one of the least likely for people to think of when trying to come up with a list of them.

speaking of windy—last 15 miles of a 50 mile (est,) bike was uphill and a nasty headwind.
River loop trail had a side trail that went on a gravel trail through old railroad tunnels to Hoover Dam,
Real tough going the last 15. Might do some running in Red Rock tomorrow.

Congrats to C3Baker! Fully impressed!

I don’t know that I would ever be able to do 50 miles on the bike; can’t imagine 15 of them being uphill and against a strong wind.

I continue to be amazed at what many of you here are able to do.

Nrdsb4- Look at the progress you have made! You could build up to 50 miles. There is no question about it. It would be easier to do with some training partners and some organized rides, but you have every bit as much potential as anyone else. It’s perfectly OK to not want to go that far, of course, but don’t ever think that you couldn’t!

Nrdsb4, 5 years ago I wanted to run a 5k. It took me 4 years but I finally ran a race! Anything is possible!

Congratulations on your fast race, C3Baker. Add me to the list of what gets done by the people on this list. I still can’t wrap my mind around running for two, three, four or even more hours.

Thumbs down to critics of the pregnant or mom athletes. I remember going back to one of my first exercise classes after having my third. I felt so great to have an hour with the baby tucked away in the nursery, so happy to be able to fit into a leotard, liberated for the briefest bit of time; and some woman acquaintance quickly burst the bubble by sniping about how I should be breastfeeding rather than worrying about losing pregnancy fat. I was nursing, round the clock. Flush with hormones, I felt like clocking her.

4 mile run yesterday; upper body weights; random miles of walking with the H. Today I walked a bit, but offset that with cookies (and dough) I sampled along the way while making birthday treats for that now big kid number three.

Good news and bad news!

The good news: the Halloween candy is all gone! :)

The bad news: the Halloween candy is all gone! :(

Time to get back on the straight and narrow. As penance, I might have to fire up Lustig’s book on the Kindle for a little light reading…

iDad, it helps to know you’re human too.

I entered a Nuun giveaway, which of course I did not win, but some of the prize sponsors are sharing coupon codes. If any cyclists are interested, you can get 30% off Pactimo cycling clothing through 12/31 using coupon code NUUN10TH. The code will not be valid 11/28 through 12/1, so I suspect there may be some other bargains during that time. I don’t cycle, so I don’t know if it’s any good or not, but I’m sure one of our experts can chime in.

It just goes to show that, for me, all the decision-making occurs in the grocery store. I guess I can take solice in having walked past those big display tables of poison at the front of the store 51 of the last 52 weeks.

Nice time C3!

Trainer today–core work, TRX, kettle bells, planks, and box jumps. Followed with 2 mile walk. Monday–I was back to the hot yoga studio for basic flow. (Hadn’t been there for a few months–doing yoga elsewhere.) Tomorrow, I signed up for the killer indoor cycle class.

You are getting close Sabaray!!! Stay with your plan.

C3 - wow, missed your post. Awesome job. and what a great time! Your heels must have been on fire! :)

Thanks! No part of me was on fire, I was freezing! I don’t know that I will ever be able to run that fast again because I don’t ever want to be that cold again.

Bromfield-I admire all that yoga. Takes more balance than I have anymore. Good luck with your killer cycle class.

iDad-if Halloween candy is your only vice you are in good shape!

Sabaray-you are doing so great with all your training! I hope your marathon on the 15th is someplace warm (or not freezing). How long have you been working up to this?

Plantmom-I just finished baking cookies. Did more than my fair share of sampling (dough and cookies). I can’t even claim they are for kids, none left at home. Oops!

Cookies and candies all packed and shipped–all except for just a wee few butterfingers  Idad, you’ve posted an avatar of my Halloween weakness.

Today I ran 6 miles–longest time and distance for me. I was slow, averaging around 11 mm pace, but I could have gone more and I could breathe. I was probably well fueled with cookies. Walked another 2 with H before dinner.

To the basement, burning off my fully topped off glycogen stores and fatty liver deposits!

Rear foot elevated split squats (2 x 30 lb DBs)
Chin ups
KB swings (50 lb KB)
Alternating Bench Press (2 x 40 lb DB)

Good solid workout.

3.5 mile jog on my treadmill. I hate this darkness after 5 pm!

Kudos on your race, 3cb. Sendin sabaray the taper-for-the-race mojo.

Idad, I have the same problem with trail mix lately. Must. Stop. Buying. Trail mix!

Bunsen, I hate the night dark but am loving the early light as I have adequate time on the hill in the a.m. With the rain, and leaves its been slippery but the microspikes help.

Now that my neck is finally sorted after that late summer dive outtage, its time to get a short strength routine going again. Its amazing to me how quickly I can backslide and loose strength when just a few things go wrong ;)

Plant mom, Great job! 6 miles! That’s my pace too! 6 miles is where you have to think about things like hydration and fuel. Really nice job.

Hating the time change. Not my favorite time of the year.

Idad, any trips to TJ Maxx lately? I haven’t seen much shopping here lately but I went yesterday. I’m not finding the marmot stuff I found last year. But I did find a smartwool base layer and an Icebreaker zip up jacket. Some thorlo running socks. I really don’t need too much this year and not sure if I’ll keep them but when I shop TJ Maxx I’ll buy and return as it won’t be there if I dont.

We went away for the weekend so the good news is no Halloween candy. The bad news is that we went away and fell off the healthy eating bandwagon. Getting back on now.
