I know how you feel, fallgirl. Sometimes sticking to your fitness routine is the only thing you can control as other areas of your life spin out of control. Hope things improve.
I hear you, fallgirl.
59 and gorgeous this morning but I was dragging. June was lower mileage even though all my weeks were on target. Fewer weekends and long runs in the month.
On the way up to PA. Wish I could see Michael, but we’re in center city to load up a truck and get WildChild out of the apartment and then up to his Poconos house. I’m planning a long run on the Lehigh River trail Saturday, which is new to me.
Fallgirl - sorry to hear that you’re having a tough time right now. I’m glad running and yoga is helping. I hope things get better soon.
I’ll have to watch fireandrain’s video later at home. I can’t afford to be sobbing at my desk at work right now and it sounds like the kind of thing that will really get to me. I love my dog!
I have a workout at the gym with my trainer tonight and later will meet up with a friend for a walk (with our dogs!).
Weights and fluid running. They did a July 4 playlist - Surfin’ USA, Summer in the City, etc ending with Coming to America. Which, darn it, is a song that gets made fun of but it was fun to listen to! Possible 20 mile bike ride this afternoon w spouse.
Thinking about you FG and glad your routine is giving you a sense of normalcy.
I was dragging this morning, too - legs were tired but I feel good about the training. Still humid but at least it’s cooler. Walked the pups and I have a Reformer class scheduled for tonight.
Good luck with the moving, MOWC.
When are you hitting Philly MOWC. I’m in my office tomorrow (doing fitness work today). If you’re in town tomorrow, maybe a quick coffee/ice tea?
Only in the city for a couple hours today. Heading up to Poconos this afternoon. Boo.
MNK - I will be in Philly (Mayfair) in mid Aug.; will connect offline as gets closer.
Another reason America is obese. Long, boring meetings and terrible food choices provided.
Had a 3 hour meeting this morning - I’m going to start advocating for standing tables in addition to standing desks! OMG, I thought my Fitbit was going to start yelling at me, “GET YOUR A_ _ MOVING!”
Then box lunches. Jumbo sandwiches on jumbo white rolls. MAYBE 1/4 c. fruit. Bag of chips. Jumbo cookie. No water only carbonated drinks or calorie full lemonade. Track the calories, carbs and sugar in THAT lunch! I ate the chicken salad and slice of tomato out of the sandwich and add the piddly pieces of fruit. Hard not to eat those chips cause I like salt and I was bored…but I did not cave in.
Abasket, sounds like a very typical meeting… Sad. Kudos for not falling for those chips!
I would have caved with the cookie…
I was out to dinner last night with some friends I haven’t seen in a couple years. These are moms that I was friends with when our kids were in middle and high school. One is really into biking and is very fit. But the rest have all put on quite a few pounds in the last few years. It was kind of sad what everybody ordered. The overweight ones ordered things like a wedge salad lathered in blue cheese dressing. So little food and yet not really all that healthy. Iceberg lettuce and gobs of dressing just isn’t going to fill you up. And yet they talked about how hard they are trying to lose weight and eat right. It was a shame because the restaurant was really good and there were lots of great options that were not too much higher in calories but so much more satisfying.
I do adore a wedge salad … just dip the fork in the blue cheese dressing, or have a small amount of blue cheese crumbles, instead of pouring the dressing on the salad.
Am making a smoothie of kale, blueberries and raspberries which is surprisingly really good!
Hi all! I’ve been on a visit to the cooler upper midwest for some big family events. The eating has been out of control. Last night, for example, we were out at a supper club and someone ordered a basket of fried mac and cheese (as if the fried cheese curds, fried perch, and french fries weren’t enough) sigh. The good news is that I’m trying to keep on top of the excess consumption with a lot of activity. H and I have been walking a good seven miles or more each day, and I’ve been taking advantage of the cool temps to run shorter but more intense stretches. Today my sister and I ran 3.5 incorporating “the big hill”, a few hundred foot rise in the first half mile, and a gradual slope downhill for another 3. We walked another 5 to add a planned stop at the coffee shop for cappuccinos. Whew! Trying hard to keep everything balanced during time away from home is tough, but I can’t imagine not getting in the active time on my feet!
Fried cheese curds…no one in their right mind turns those down!
Have some great family time PlantMom and it sounds like you are counteracting the eating with exercise - those yummy Midwest treats are temporary!
I will easily pass a cookie. I will not hold my hand from dipping into fried cheese curds.
I would do both, unfortunately!
I would go cookie over curds! Fried stuff, chips, etc don’t do anything for me. I need to blast myself off sugar and carbs.
My downfall is cheese, potatoes, and crusty bread. I can live without sweets and sugar just fine.
Peanut butter cookies. Oatmeal raisin cookies. My Kryptonite.
Sorry guys, I threw the cookie away - big isn’t always better - turns out it was a snickerdoodle type cookie and one nibble revealed little taste!
Cold is still hanging on…didn’t think running in the warm weather was a good idea but I got in my 11,000 minimum steps and a 5 mile bike ride. Somethin!!!
