That sounds like an incredible run, MOWC - I wish mine was as scenic! Happily I got my three hours on my feet - no land speed records, but again, measurable improvement. I had a hard time with my HR the last hour, but it had warmed up substantially with sun and humidity rising. Felt good at the end. Saw three does and a fawn by our golf course; quick shower and treated myself to a cup of coffee and a proscuitto/swiss croissant. Good reason to get a run in!
3 hours! That is excellent! Yes, we do get to have treats after the long runs!
At 7am before we left the house to go to the trail, I saw a lone, strong swimmer out in the middle of the lake. WildChild!
I cannot fathom running for 3 hours. Or, running with bears in the vicinity!
I also cannot imagine walking a 12-13 minute pace - bravo! I can get 14 minute pace if I’m really booking it walking - do you have really long legs or strides?!
Headed to Canuck land for a couple of days - hopefully filled with bouts of kayaking, adirondack/hammock sitting, walks on the beach - a run if I’m up to it - and absolutely, some good ole Canadian ice cream! But not before stopping at the urgent care this morning for this nasty “cold” - diagnosed as sinusitis - now armed with a Z-pack and other meds to help me along. Just wasn’t getting better and didn’t want to leave town - and the country into rural Canada without a plan.
Enjoy the weekend all! Happy 4th!
12 miles on my own this morning. My next half marathon is in 2 weeks, so this will be my final long run before that. I decided to skip out on run club this morning - I think I’ve discovered that for runs of 8+ miles, I really prefer to just put on my headphones & a podcast & just slog it out. Sounds like everyone is off to a good start on the long weekend - have a great one!
Hope that cold gets zapped soon, abasket.
Sunrise yoga and then a 6 mile walk this AM. The weather is absolutely perfect here today.
Abasket, hope that yummy ice cream will help to ease your cold symptoms!
We just unloaded our Costco loot from the car and are off to play with the leftovers of our pile of beauty bark! Thank goodness for the long weekend.
I kayaked across the lake. Wonder if I’ll be sore tomorrow?
Abasket- how is the cold?
Broke my streak at 32 days. I have no idea how @MomofWildChild does it. I woke up too tired and too sore and besides I had another UTI … that was that. No run yesterday, but a nice long bike ride with DH today – 42 miles on a lovely old rail trail. (And yet another round of antibiotics.)
I have to share this:

I would love to meet Jamie. I love the quote “Fast is faster than you were yesterday”.
Streaking has a large component of luck.
Taking a break from the yardwork… surfing cc and planning dinner. Steak, I think, is what we will be eating, 'cause I need to deal with my iron deficiency.
dmd, yikes. UTIs are nasty (“nasty” is an understatement). Get well soon.
FallGirl, thanks for posting! What an amazing young woman.
Love that, fallgirl.
Wonderful story about the CP runner. So inspiring.
I hate UTIs. Hoping this one ends quickly, dmd.
I’m a very fast walker – long legs and I like going fast. A 4.5 mile pace is typical for me.
Today is the first day of our beach vacation. I managed a short walk on the beach, but no real exercise. For the next 2 weeks, I’ll spend a lot of time sitting in a beach chair. No complaints.
I hate UTIs, too. The last one was really strange. I am probably becoming an old lady, because there were no “typical” UTI symptoms, just general tiredness and fuzzy brain. I was thinking I was experiencing early onset dementia! As soon as the meds kicked in, the mind cleared out. Wow. I am getting old!!! Because that’s how UTI manifests in elderly.
Incredible story, FallGirl. I’d like to meet her too!
So sorry about the UTI. (Sorry, guys on this thread.) They are painful. Feel better!
3.5 miles this morning in cool Poconos air. Heading home with son’s cat later today. Ready to be home, even
though it will be hot.
6 miles around Toronto. Did you ever notice when your running in unfamiliar places the run/mileage doesn’t seem as long? I guess you don’t have mileage checkpoints. I think I’m going to start running down the path less traveled to make the running easier!
Yesterday was my lesson on the importance of eating post-exercise - when and what you eat does make a huge difference. Had to be somewhere by 9:30, so quickly ate a Picky bar followed by a croissant and coffee. Then ran some errands; bad idea - too many carbs and no protein made me really dizzy/shaky. Good reminder to eat properly when you’re training.
