Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Thank you for reminding, deb! I need some Align pants… Good shopping!

I love that hoodie and of course there is a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. I’m glad I’m not the only one with the sleeves too long problem!

Not to veer too much from our main intent of the thread, but since we wear our Lulu for casual wear, too…Do any of you wear LuLaRoe leggings? They seem soft and very stretchy. Not the quality of Lulu, but also not the price!

People are wild about LuLaRoe here - I don’t have enough of a need for them to buy yet more “casual” wear. Everyone I know sells their stuff.

^^^^ Same here. I know several women - maybe a little younger - who are definitely on the LuLaRoe train. And yes, seems every other one also sells it. I have no idea of the prices.

Back-to-back yoga today. First a vinyasa class followed by Yin yoga.

I used to drink 3-4 cans of Diet Coke a day but managed to quit. Don’t miss it. Wish I could be as successful with sugary stuff.

@PlantMom , isn’t there a race on your calendar? Coming up or no?

I just discovered LuLaRoe. I wore one of the dresses today at the conference. Packs well, comfortable and soft. Inexpensive. All of a sudden everyone is selling it!

I’m glad to be home. The eating in New Orleans was a disaster.

Yes, abasket. I must be shedding nervous waves across the interwebs! I spent an hour today reading through the instructions for participating in this thing. The race is the Disney Wine and Dine half marathon on November 6, starting at 5:30 AM. I didn’t realize what a production it would be to get to the starting area, but apparently I’m going to be waking up at 3AM or so in order to make it to the shuttle that’ll get me to the starting area and my corral. I think there are over 14000 people registered. Yikes. I looked over past results today, and was glad to see that many walkers participate. It looks like it will be a good entertaining place to make my big splash as a half marathoner IF I am not emulating Sleeping Beauty by dozing away instead of actually starting at that early hour.

Awesome Plantmom! Sleep the night before a race? Overrated. Just make sure you sleep lots on the night of the 4th and then the night of the 6th! My H’s niece and her D post pics from Disney 1/2’s what seems like a couple times a year - I imagine they have several races. We’ll be rooting for you!

That sounds fun but huge! You will do great!

PlantMom, you will be fine! I had to wake up at 2:30 to run Boston, and I was OK. Well, it was 5:30 local time but it was still 2:30 am in Seattle. The excitement of the race will carry you forward despite the lack of sleep!

Good luck @PlantMom! That’s a bucket list race for me. The Disney races look so fun!

Rain and then the dreaded s n ow forecasted for later today. Going out for a quick run before it starts.

PlantMom that sounds like fun! I wish they had another word for corral (but I guess “open cage” isn’t much better). You’ll do great!

Let me add my late congrats to Sabaray for the upcoming race! Here’s hoping everyone’s races go well!

38 degrees here, but felt warmer once I got running. Hope everyone has a great day!

Easy yoga followed by 2.3 miles this morning. The weather watch begins.

38 sounds like a great temp to me! It doesn’t take me long to warm up.

Good Luck Plantmom!

44 and rainy here this morning. I hope to keep up my hikes as long as possible so I need to find some good cold weather outerwear for our Minnesota winter. Anyone have some suggestions??? The hikes have been good for me. I am at my lowest weight in a year!

Deb, NOOOOOO! on the “s” word!!!

Another inspirational story about a runner - but his story applies to more than running - this sums it up:

The marathon was something I strived to reach, but it was never the end of my work. I still struggle sometimes to eat healthily, and I struggle to get out the door in the morning and exercise. But this is all part of a process. A process that will forever be a part of my life, and I now embrace it.

His marathon was the Detroit marathon a couple weeks ago! My heart really belongs in Michigan so a thumbs up to Detroit - a popular marathon around here (except that it is one week apart from the Chicago Marathon…)

@abasket – that’s an amazing story – thank you for sharing it! He sounds incredibly focused.

@NorthMinnesota – lowest weight in a year – woo hoo! Must feel great!

Thanks for that article! Great story.

NMinn- I’m a big believer in down. Lulu and Oiselle have some lighter weight down (or fake down) that is good for active stuff. I particularly like the Lulu pieces with zippered underarm vents. More will be coming out as we get into holiday season. Layering pieces will be key. I love the Oiselle wazzie wool as a base layer. SmartWool is good, too. Warm socks are key. Feet will be a problem for you.
