Well, I have to do it in 2:25 or less, Bunsen, but less than two hours would be nice. Last time I did a half, I think it was about 1:53 or so, but I was a little younger, thinner, and my feet didn’t bother me as much. I think the key is going to be finding a way to get good conditioning without having to run long distances.

Lava fields, ahh! How nice! It’s 33 degrees out here.

Restorative yoga today; planned on going to the gym afterwards to work on the stair climber, but the snow was coming down fast and furious and the roads were slippery. Decided I’d just make my way home from yoga. Projected 6-8 inches for my part of MA.

Yoga challenge group meeting tomorrow–check in for the 21-day challenge and yoga class. (Week 1 will be over.)

Bus, you can do it! One more shoe thought. Have you tried men’s shoes? Especially Altras. They have very wide toe boxes.

I think this was my longest treadmill run ever. 9 miles. Was planning 8, but watched the movie Greater and the movie was longer than my run! I finally stopped at 9 and walked while I finished the movie. It really went OK- once I got to 5 miles I knew I would make it. I threw in a couple of inclines every mile to give my legs some change of pace.

Congrats, MOfWC.

busdriver - I signed up for a half Jan 25 in Central Park (just twice around plus a little more) but not sure if you want to be in NYC in the winter!

Did my 10k this morning. Didn’t want to set a goal (because I think I jinxed myself doing that with the marathon) but I came in under goal (48 minutes) by 6 seconds. Boy it was cold out there – waiting a half hour in 27 degree weather isn’t fun but I’m sure all of you have done that and more. Pre-race, I wore a “skirt” made of a trash bag. I was a real fashion “don’t”

Zumba! I started strong but by the end my brain and feet weren’t speaking anymore.

Congrats class of 2015!

I hear you justamom. Another accountant who is working today. I did get a yoga class in early and then did some weights afterwards. One of my goals for this year is to add in strength training.

Got my new shorts from Athleta yesterday and they seem to be a shorter version of some running capris I bought last year which I like. The fit was good and I’m happy with the length. Fabric is not real light but not heavy either. I will have to try them on the treadmill for now.

We got about an inch of snow, but the streets look ok now. Will go for a walk while it’s light out and I have a chance of seeing any black ice.

Yes, about half the shoes I’ve tried are men’s shoes. An issue is that since I have a very narrow heel, even if I do the runner tie thing at the ankle, I have to tie my shoes so tightly that the top of my foot gets numb. I will try two pairs of socks with those men’s shoes, though. Yes, tried the Altra fairly recently.

Just cut a bunion hole in a pair of old shoes. Looked at my feet a little longer and realized that probably won’t help. The blisters are not on my bunions, but right below them, on the inner bottom side of them. To protect those, I’d have to cut the hole into the bottom of the shoes…which probably isn’t a great idea!

I’d love to see a picture of Classof2015’s trash bag skirt. Around here in Seattle, it might turn out to be the height of fashion!

Congratulations, Classof2015. Great time!

Trash bags are excellent pre-race attire!

@busdriver11 - let me know about the race. I will be there - it would be fun to meet up at the start line!

@busdriver11 – have you tried using the gel filled blister pads on the areas prone to blisters BEFORE the blisters form, as prevention? That, plus wearing two pairs of thin socks really helps me. I get terrible blisters on the bottom of my feet and along the sides. I use the blister pads to create a big mat on the bottom of my feet and up along the sides. You go through several boxes of the pads so it is not a cheap solution but it works for me.

Will let you know, Gertrude! Still waffling about whether to do it or wait till the one in Mar near my home. If I waited, it would give me more time, but it would be my only chance to qualify…and one never knows if they’ll be sick, injured, or whatever.

Nottelling, thanks! I’m all over that one right now. That looks like a very interesting possibility, it sounds like you have the same blister issue as me.

2 hours XC skiing. The snow and weather were perfect! Made H stop at Tim Horton’s on the way home for a donut. Told him it was my thing lol!

I love Tim Horton’s! None anywhere near me!

Plantmom says she’ll be back soon. She has a lot going on and still has a kid home on break. She said she’ll need our help to get her back on her exercising.

Lazy day for me other than two pup walks and a walk with Mr. Sabaray - 1.6 snowy walking miles. He needed some encouragement to get out there. I love squeaky snow!

^^Thanks for being the messenger! Glad she is enjoying her offspring - we drive my youngest back to school tomorrow.

Sooo bitter cold. Bundled up and headed out in “15 degrees but feels like 1 degree” for a walk - had to do something! A couple miles added to my 2017 walking with a purpose total!

Hmm, that was a rather unsuccessful run I had. Couldn’t find the gel filled blister pads, but found the Bandaid blister for heels, don’t think it worked for me. Took 400 mg of Motrin, double socks, newly stretched shoes. First four miles without much pain, averaged 9 min miles, then the pain set in. Averaged 9:30 for the next three miles, but the last mile was excruciating. I think I could do the next six miles in 10 minutes, which would be less than two hours, but I don’t know if I can stand the pain. Blisters are pretty big now.

Ordering the gel filled blister pads right now, hoping they work!
