That’s great, Bunsen. Good luck with it all. How are you doing medically?
Sabaray- I did get to choose, but I think some stores might make you take black. I got bright pink shorts and a sort of heathered blue Swiftly top.

@Plantmom, if you try Stonyfield and see a difference let us know - I’m just curious!
3.5 miles after work. Last “warm” day for awhile. It’s hard not to complain - it’s January after all - but it’s SO wonderful when to be outside as opposed to in! And after running in 50 - up , you don’t want to go back to 30!
Yeah, we’all be back in the 30s in the morning,
I’m still hooked on Noosa yogurt.
Spin and a bosu class. We were all newbies and pretty funny to watch as we kept falling off the ball.
@Classof2015, don’t let the present lack of a gym membership dissuade you. There’s so much you can do with just body weight exercises in your home. Push-ups, dips on chairs, bodyweight squats with plyometric jumps, burpees, all sorts of ab work, walking lunges, even rowing hanging on the edge of your dining room table. And there’s all sorts of ways to progress or regress the resistance loads to match your current strength levels. If you are interested in some more detailed info, give me an idea of what your current capabilities are and I’ll be happy to offer some suggestions.
Great advice, MNK! Also, a TRX can be reasonably used inside one’s house without setting up a gym.
It sure can! All you need is a door that closes and latches securely. If you have the space to work out on the side of the door that swings shut i.e. so that the door would open away from you and you pulling on the TRX pulls the door towards its closed position, sling the door mount that comes with the TRX over the top of the door. If your space requires you to work out on the side of the door that would open towards you, so that pulling on the TRX pulls the door towards its open position, sling the mount over the top of the door but then position it down by the hinge.
@Lizardly, keeping that spin bike balanced on the BOSU is indeed a challenge. I still can’t get the hang of it!
All right heard back from hematologist: anemia of chronic disease. Of course the cure is to treat the underlying disease but… lol. Talking to hematologist later today to confirm treatment.
Now I’m up bright eyed and bushy tailed for a new cardiologist appointment. Maybe this one will have more answers than the last one [-O<
I hope you have a productive appointment, Romani. I know this is very frustrating for you.
Nothing but pup walks this morning as my muscles are very tired. Forced Mr. Sabaray to come along - figured out that when it’s “his” morning to walk them he’s cutting their walk very short - not fair to them. So now we’re all walking together and that is not a lot of fun. I think I might just go back to exercising them separately. Sabapup is getting a little chunky and there’s no one to blame but me - she doesn’t have thumbs so can’t open the refrigerator!
I’m still struggling with rest days - I think I have Fitbit induced anxiety. After the last upgrade, Fitbit suggested I up my daily step count to 15k and have an exercise goal of 6 days a week. I foolishly agreed and am now regretting it. Has anyone looked at those Fitstar videos on the guidance section?
MichaelnKat – that is so nice of you!!! I would love to be able to do something at home before I have access to a gym. Right now I’ve been trying to do a loose combo of exercises I got from Runner’s World that are supposed to strengthen your core – dead bugs, planks, glute bridges, and I do “pigeon” (yoga pose) to open up my hips. I really appreciate it!
romani – I hope they can treat the anemia. I was anemic back in college and I can’t describe how wiped out exhausted it made me feel. Fingers crossed the new cardiologist will have some answers for you.
I am not aware of the Fitstar videos!
It can be real easy for dogs to put on weights - like humans! I had a little “discussion” with H the other day - I was a little concerned that since H is retired he was providing too many day snacks to our dog since there seemed to be in increase in poopy bags being used! As I told H, the more that goes in the more that has to come out (TMI!!!)
I have my exercise goal at 5/week and a minimum of 30 minutes a day - always exceed the 5 but I like knowing I exceed it so don’t change it! My steps in general are less this time of year compared to longer days/warmer weather when I spend a lot more time outdoors in general with fitness, yard work, gardening, etc.
Do you sync your Fitbit with your phone? When the mobile interface updated, there’s a new section on the dashboard “Guidance” - and they suggest workout videos for you based on the exercise Fitbit has recorded. I don’t know if you can see that section elsewhere or only on the app. I also don’t know if you have to eventually pay for these videos - if you do, then forget it.
Edited to add that I just looked and I must have a free trial or something - because yes, you do have to pay. This won’t last long at my house!
I sync on my phone everyday - rarely look/go through the .com for anything - but I don’t see the guidance on my dashboard - the same spot where your sleep, miles, hours wheel, etc. are??
At the bottom of the app, there’s dashboard, challenges, guidance, friends and account. That’s what I see at least!
yeah, not me! I haven’t done an iPhone update but thought my Fitbit was updated!! Maybe they do it in waves.
I have that on my Fitbit App. When I click on “Guidance” at the bottom of the app, it goes to info about Fitstar. (Not that I’ve tried any of the videos!)
Speaking of Fitbits – was there someone on this thread who had problems with a Fitbit and was able to pay the difference and get a newer model? My Fitbit has a couple pieces falling off. It still works; I just have to be careful with it. I know they’ll send me a new one since they’ve already done it once, but I’d love to upgrade.
Longish pup walk this morning. After catching up on life i.e. paying bills online, etc. I’ll be doing some cleaning in anticipation of guests arriving tonight. That will be good for quite a few “steps.”
Swim and strength class. No spinning off the Bosu today.
Sore in all kinds of new places, which is great.
My first Fitbit was a Charge HR - it started acting funky - Fitbit was no help but LLBean where I bought it allowed me to exchange it and they were willing to let me get the ALTA - which actually was less $$ - so they credited me the cash!
Good news- they think my heart is just related to the rheumatological issues and not something to be concerned about. Mostly, we’re just going to manage the symptoms unless something gets worse. The cardiologists think my heart rate will come down naturally eventually and might come down a bit once we start treating the anemia.
Going in for an ultrasound just to make sure (again) that there’s no inflammation around my heart. It sounds like this will be a semi-regular test I have to get but that’s fine.
