So Bunsen- you got the house? Congratulations!
Rowing provides both cardio and muscular endurance. If you develop good technique, it will work your legs as well as your arms. Most people rely primarily on arms without proper engagement of legs and core because there is a surprising amount of technique to achieve a proper rowing stroke and very few opportunities outside of crew to actually learn it!
I also listen to music while I row. Four Coldplay songs = 16-20 minutes which is plenty for me after other cardio!
Maybe I’ll watch some YouTubes to see how to better engage my legs.
We need to formally inspect the house before the wheels can be set in motion, but I think we know pretty well what needs to be fixed there, so unless the inspection uncovers something that is totally out of this world, we are going to pursue this until the end.
Did I mention that I love the fact that the trail is just around the block?
Here’s one way to beat the boredom of rowing!
Bookmarked.
Thanks, Michael!!
BTW Bunsen, if you look at the left margin of the page I linked, there are also links to Concept 2’s pages on “Motivation” and “Training”. The training page has subpages on stroke technique videos and other training resources.
Congratulations, Bunsen. You will love having the trail so close!
So glad you got the house (almost – nothing’s a done deal until money has exchanged hands). Having a trail nearby is so great, and if your commute is shorter, that will make your life so much better.
The house sounds great, Bunsen! I would love having a trail nearby. Plus the commute is key.
Congrats to all on your progress! congrats BB and best wishes to those dealing with injuries.
I know that I always post about the drudgery of my Stairmaster so I thought I’d share this newsflash - I have worked up to 45 minutes a day on it and I actually look forward to it now! For me, I figured out that keeping cool during my horrible hotflashes is EVERYTHING. So DH installed a huge fan and I plug into my fave Netflix, next thing you know 4 mile inclines done! Now if I can just find a fan that keeps me afloat during a plank
^^^There ya go! Making it work! That’s definitely the key- a good time, a good place, good equipment, the right clothes/shoes, etc. As an old member of this thread would say, “you are worthy of the right stuff to make your experience successful” . Way to go!
Rest day today. Went to spinning on Saturday–hadn’t been there in a while and I could tell.
Today was nothing but pup walks, but the last one was vigorous and lengthy so I’m counting it as exercise - they needed it! Went over the mountain today - had to get my free stuff at Lulu so of course had to spend money because of all the money I was saving getting the free shirt and shorts! Had a great lunch at Peter Chang’s - stir fried smoked duck and prawns in chili sauce. Delicious. Can’t believe that tomorrow is Monday. Ick.
Did you get to pick your colors?
3.1 on the treadmill. It was too gloomy out and there was a “wintery mix” falling.
Yes, a “heavy dusting” of snow here. Lots of steps today working in the house and out hauling groceries in the house.
Is that the same as PF Changs???
They had a variety of black, gray and blue to choose from - nothing super colorful, but that was okay. I got some super colorful pants for Pilates, though! https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-pants/Wunder-Under-Pant-HR-28-Dazzle/_/prod8351188?rcnt=20&N=1z13ziiZ7vf&cnt=35&color=LW5AEFS_028085

A swim and a spin. All I want to do is eat today.
I love those! Very fun.
