Last night was an easy 6 mile run. There were millions of people out on the trail - so fun to see so many people out on a weeknight! The warm weather has been fantastic. I was able to run without my headlamp and that’s great news! In just a few weeks we’ll be back into Daylight Saving Time and that will make the evening runs so much easier without being so pressured to leave work on time to be able to get part of the run before it gets too dark.
Tonight will be 3-4 miles with the running club. Afterwards we’re having a pizza and planning meeting - we’re going to do the Jamaica Half Marathon in December! I am excited to start planning the trip!
NMinn - wow, that was quite a hike! I can picture getting into that situation where it’s impossible to turn around but impossible to go forward. So glad you made it out of there OK!
Welcome to nahnah! Hopefully the running will get easier as you get further into your training program.
PlantMom - I hope you work through your exercise slump. Your photos are spectacular and of course it is important to have balance in life. It can’t all be about exercise - your art is important too!
It makes a better Plantmom (or any of us) to have focus on more than one thing. You are walking lots and pursuing your photography interest. Maybe make the walks a little more productive to get the heart rate up?
Admit for me though, that this is why I’m afraid to give myself much of a break in exercise - I fear that I will get out of the habit too fast!
NorthMinnesota- that sounds scary!
MomofWildChild- I’m definitely slowing down. Sometimes I good about not worrying about it and sometimes I get frustrated about it. I need to stop the frustration. I know that’s only making it worse!!
I am enjoying reading about everyone else! I’m also excited for more light in the evening. It’ll be nice to workout more outside after work. There’s a ton of construction where I live now so I don’t like running there in the dark.
Today I had a class after work, so it’s a rest day. Tomorrow is cross training. I’m hoping to get on the stair master. I know someone on here has been doing a lot of work on the stair master, I need to channel that person!
Track night tonight. Ran by myself (8x200). Didn’t want to run the 600s with the boys after my bronchitis the last week. Headed to watch the Big 10 indoor championships this weekend at Spire in Geneva OH. Probably one of the nicest indoor venues in the country. Why they built it an hour from Cleveland is another story. We’re going to watch a miler from our HS that graduated a year and half ago. He ran a 4:00:03 2 weeks ago so we’re hoping he breaks 4.
Thanks, C3B. I think I have just needed a change in routine. So many things I want to do and not enough time! I am seeking a balance. Wow, Jamaica Half–sounds fantastic!
I look forward to having a little more evening light but I’m probably the only person who does NOT appreciate DST. It means the peak heat hits us smack in the middle of cooking dinner and our evening walk. Blah!
I ran this morning before it warmed up too much. I did close to four miles without too much difficulty. I want you all to know that I imagined I had your encouragement wrapped up in a nice little bundle in my pocket. Seriously! Someone here did that for a very important national march, and I was channeling her energy . I am certainly trying to keep up with my steps–just have to make sure I get some quality involved.
1 (14 ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 garlic clove
1/4 cup cayenne pepper hot sauce (or any favorite buffalo sauce)
1/4 cup tahini
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
fresh chives, for toppings (optional)
Instructions
Place all ingredients into the bowl of a food processor, and blend until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Transfer to a bowl, top with chives if using, and serve with pita bread, chips or veggies.
3.7 mile run this morning. Now sitting at home waiting for the service person to show up for the annual furnace cleaning, etc. You know, the 10 AM - 2PM “window,” and no, they can’t give me a more specific time frame.
3.2 miles this morning. That might be it for the day since I have guests coming from out of town after work. This was our annual sales meeting week (now over) and it’s been tiring and tough to fit the running in. I ran from work yesterday at about 3:00 before I had to go back town for the big closing awards dinner. I haven’t run outside from work since last spring when we got the poisonous snakes by the pond warning. No snakes yesterday!
I’m looking forward to the longer days, but it always takes me some time to adjust to DST. I get up early as it is and I don’t like getting up in the dark again.
Foot feels okay. I didn’t have that painful first step in the morning. But I swam instead, just in case, and will stay with an every other day running pattern.
@nahnah12 Welcome back! Stairmaster devotee here. My suggestion, put on Netflix, something you love to watch no commercials, or blast a real upbeat playlist and you’ll be done in 30 mins. Best thing, An intense 30 mins will trigger an after-burn workout too, continue burning calories when you’re done, love it! Best of luck and visit here for encouragement, it’s the best thread on CC!
I am very lucky to be able to swim outside year round. The days I don’t want to drag my lazy butt to the pool and put on a bathing suit I remind myself of that.
I wasn’t knocking you in anyway @Lizardly - your post just made me think about swimming outside - and made me want to be able to do it! I like swimming as an exercise option - but am not a fan of inside pools/lanes when I feel the pressure of knowing others are behind/in front/ or sloshing lots of water around me!
You know you’re obsessed when … you get to the airport early for a delayed flight so you can take a walk up and down the terminal. Then the flight isn’t as delayed as stated, actually arrives early, so you still have a 2+ hour wait in airport 2 – which you spend walking up and down the terminals. Then your second flight gets delayed, so you walk a little more.
In all, I’ve walked 7.5 miles in airport terminals today (bags were with husband). Couldn’t go very fast since I was dodging people, carts, luggage, etc. Husband is now walking the terminals.
Not thrilled with the flight delay, but at least I made good use of it.
OTOH, I just ate a chocolate chip cookie courtesy of the airport lounge. It was good.
