Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

So sorry about your dog, @FallGirl. Very hard indeed.

2 solid days of rain at the beach and my gym membership here doesn’t re-start until Monday. Oh well, there are always cleaning chores to be done when we come back for the season. This morning we drove back to MA; we’ll be here 2 nights before heading back to the beach. My doctor’s appointment (physical) is in about an hour.

^ You never whine @sabaray .

When it comes to running issues, we don’t whine. We are “realistically negative!”

sabaray - let me know about the Antarctica race. I would totally love to do one, although I’m guessing you’re not serious. I would really love to do the half marathon!

Me too!! I think we’ve looked into that race here… The $25,000 fee for the experience was bit over my budget. I foolishly picked Hawaii instead…

I like that. Realistically negative.

If we’re going to Antarctica we’d better book now - only 200 people accepted, 2018 and 2019 are now accepting waitlist candidates. And we thought getting into college was hard!

We went to dinner with one of DH’s colleagues and her H who just got back from Antarctica. They loved it, but said it was physically grueling (they are in their early 60s and fit). They did the Nat Geo trip, which provides professional photographers who teach classes, loaner cameras and lenses, etc. I looked up the price…gulp! But the pics of the penguins and icebergs – magnificent!

Started doing hamstring exercises last week so I can get back to cardiac rehab and more walking – and the knee filled with fluid again. Time to get the MRI. Ortho said he shouldn’t have to drain the knee this much, so something is clearly going on in there. $#@^ car accident. I had recovered from the last surgery so nicely and was able to walk a lot, and now this. ;(

Sorry to hear you’re still having issues with the knee, CountingDown. I think an MRI definitely makes sense. Hope they can address it once and for all.

Antarctica looks pretty “selective” as it were. Our weather this weekend is going to swing from mid80s on Saturday to mid60s on Sunday. One day can make such a difference.

CD, you are SOO patient. And, a good patient! I hope you can get your knee issues resolved without too invasive intervention.

Got my miles in this morning. And a pup walk. Working from home a bit and then heading to pick up D2 from college for the summer! This is the time of year that I start to wish I had a job with summers OFF.

Once we moved D to college she never came back - a few weeks at a time, but never to “live”. Sounds like a fun summer ahead. Nothing but pup walks this morning.

Hope they can figure out your knee, CD. That has to be a bummer.

Ate terribly yesterday! Pizza and ice cream, but they were GOOD pizza (Vivo53) and ice cream (Molly Moon’s). then had a big glass of wine to celebrate the first giant step toward my freedom! Redeemed myself somewhat by walking to my last class instead of waiting for the bus.

Yay for celebrating! Pizza and ice cream sounds fabulous!

Swim today. That might be it, we’ll see.

Congratulations, Bunsen!

Up here in PA. WildChild told us that he actually ran under 1:20 for the half marathon at the end of Oceanside Half Ironman, but he made a wrong turn in the finish stretch and added a couple of minutes. Know your course!

Survived a tough 14.2 on the D&L trail. It’s so gorgeous, but I was thinking to myself “beautiful monotony”. I messed up and didn’t wear my visor since I was expecting a tree canopy like I had last July. Nope. Too early. It was 61-72 while I ran. I carried my handheld and my husband came by on a bike a few times with water. It was a struggle, but I got it done. Not sure how I’m going to manage a marathon on June 10.

I forgot – is your June 10 marathon on a flat course or a trail? I couldn’t do trail running for any distance.

I bet you’ll find the strength, MOWC! You’re a racing warrior!

I don’t do trail running. Today was crushed gravel- a few rocks to start, but not a “trail” trail.

The West Virginia marathon is on roads but is very hilly with one really big climb. It’s supposed to be fun and beautiful.

Spent the morning participating in a town-wide clean-up-the-road effort. People sign up for a 1 mile segment; I found some trash and a few bottles and cans to recycle. Mostly, I was pulling out garlic mustard (an invasive weed). I had 2 trash bags full of the stuff. Felt like a good workout–lots of squatting. Going to a relax and restore yoga later this evening.

@FallGirl , I am so sorry about your dear doggie. :frowning:

I was supposed to go on a long run today, but instead I stress ate and stayed by the phone to hear the results of my old gal’s liver xrays (still waiting, she might have a tumor). Don’t know how our family would survive without the Honey Badger.

But if the results aren’t too bad, I’m going on that run!

Oh no, Bus. Let us know.
