Glad to hear of the improved conditions, Bunsen. Cheering her on from afar!
Ran with a group of three other women this morning - some tough hills but it went okay. Happily I have lost 8.8 pounds total, inches off my waist and hips but my shoulders, upper arms and thighs (ack!) are getting larger. I’m chalking it up to bad measuring. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Ran 5 miles with the running club today. Have signed up for an 8K race next Saturday (moving up from 5K) and depending how it goes I might do the 10K on Thanksgiving. We’ll see…
Wow Sabaray that is amazing - which means more to you - the inches or the pounds!
I’m getting upper body workout today refurbishing our big wood Dutch front door - sanding, polishing, painting - the polishing was several hours worth and brutal!
@FallGirl 8k is a great step up - and WHEN you finish you will say, “10k…no problem!!”
Kid resurfaced! Placed in the top bunch in the swim (she has not swam in a while!) but she says “can’t bike to save my life” lol. Well done anyway. Really proud of her! Omg. She did not do so badly after all!!!
That’s excellent, sabaray! Congratulations on the hard work and results. Glad your daughter got through it so well, Bunsen! Biking was my weak link when I did triathlon.
Laughing so hard!! Kid had lightening fast transition from bike to run… faster than anyone else in her event… which means she rode her bike in my Hokas and likely forgot her bike shorts at home. Just took her helmet off, parked her bike, and ran. Lol!!
I am running Twin Cities (MN) on October 1. My daughter chose it as her goal race, and she has trained well. Some life events have been threatening to interfere, but she’s holding the course (pun intended) so far. Me, on the other hand…not doing as well with the life events and goal is to just get through it with minimal freaking out. It’s a larger race than I prefer, but I ran it 20 years ago so it’s a nice anniversary. Plus, it is my first marathon in my new age group which I enter this Tuesday! (I won’t win anything- this race attracts world class runners in all age groups).
The one observation I have with exercise and weight loss - I honestly have not changed my diet or eating habits that much. But, I have diversified my workouts and I think that has had a huge impact. Of course, I’m a study of one, but I don’t know that the long, slower runs did me any favors when I was trying to keep my weight down. I will have to keep that in mind because I have a marathon in my sights for next year when I will be in a new age group.
Today is Mr. Sabaray’s b-day and mine is tomorrow. I’ll be celebrating with a 6:15 am Barre class!
Happy Birthday to all of us! Well, Classof2015, the plan is 3 marathons since I seem to be entered in Monkey in November. Of course, as the race director says, “You can’t train for Monkey.” Yes, I’m tired of all of it. When I ran close to 3 hour marathons, the long runs were not as big of a deal and there were plenty of training partners. Now- not so much. Older and tired. I’m always really proud of myself when I cross the finish line, though!
Happy Birthday to all the September birthdays! Did 9 miles with the group yesterday & almost felt like my old self again. I walked the first 2, then did my usual intervals for 5, then walked the last 2. That felt great. A nice long warm-up & cool-down.
Congrats sabaray! And Happy Birthday to you and Mr. what a coincidence that you and your husband are one day apart - my wife and I are too and also in September!
