Greenery,
In your recipe above, you can substitute sugar with Honey. Honey is lots of calories, but I stopped using sugar completely, I use honey instead in everything, it seems not affecting weight or anything else. I always buy 2 huge containers, since they disapper so quickly. Somebody mentioned that it is not the best quality at Costco, well it is certainly the cheapest, so I am buying it there along with the most of my food.

Another alternative to honey is agave syrup. It is sweeter than honey and table sugar, so less is needed, saving calories. It also has a lower glycemic index than sugar and most brands available are organic and considered “raw.” The taste is very pleasant and neutral - I use it in cooking to replace corn syrup, honey or maple syrup.

Goumetmom - I am another agave user. I really love it in tea. It truly takes just a drop. I also love it in greek yogurt. A little agave in plain yogurt with some cinnamon - hmmm.

^ I will check out agave and do price comparison. I have my plain yougurt with honey and powder chocolate (baking chocolate has only 15 cal in tablespoon, not mistake, not teaspoon, I was pleasantly surprized and add it to tea / coffee, cannot have as much as I would love, because of my huge unfortunate sensitivity to cofeine).

If you like to order a salad as a healthier option when you eat out, beware:

The top honors go to CPK’s Waldorf Chicken Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing - a whopping 1,570 calories!

Oh great! My D occasionally treats me to a meal at CPK…and this is what I always order. I didn’t realize it was so unhealthy! My only consolation is that I order the half size. Next time, I think I’ll stick with the margherita pizza.

CPK’s food is not for dieters, for sure! In our state CPK prints calorie content on the menus, and the numbers are mind-boggling! The dish with the lowest calories, as I recall, was their arugula with chicken salad (800 or so?). In sharp contrast, my favorite Nordy’s lime and cilantro chicken salad has only 350 calories and costs about $10 for a dinner-sized portion![url=http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/6018379/0~2377475~6018379#restaurants_classic_cafe]Nordstrom Restaurants - Nordstrom/url

GUESS WHAT? I did go shopping for new pair of jeans this morning. I picked out 4 pair in a size smaller than my old size. THEY WERE ALL TOO BIG! I was really excited about that. So I had to go down another size.

And I got a new hair cut this morning, also. A style that I have never/ever had before. And I like it.

It is a nice little boost. I believe my weight has stayed the same this week. I will know for sure in the morning. Ate 3 meals out last weekend and just can’t get my body to lose this week. But next week will probably be better.

Good to go eddieodessa! I’m too hope for a better week next week. However, did pretty good this week…cannot complain.

I’m more conscious about weight when I go shopping… so I told my H that I need to shop more often because it help me to lose weight! He laughed…

I would like for more restaurants to post fat & calories in their menus. Fast food should always provide the customer with this information. I have noticed that Applebee’s, Taco Bell (Fresco Menu) and McDonald have a display with literature about fat, calories…

I battled the iPod nazi to a draw in today’s workout. He kicked my butt in the exercise circuits, but I kicked his butt in the interval workout on the exercise bike, crankiing up the resistance a little bit and turning my fastest speed ever during the 10th and final all-out segment.

Then, I turned off his Canadian techno music in favor of some good Dwight Yoakam rockabilly for the five minute cool down.

Good week. Three iPod nazi workouts and a mile walk on one of the rest days.

Since I am getting four wisdom teeth out on Monday, does anyone here think I should just pig out this weekend?

Just kidding.

wnp, ouch - best of luck to you with your dental surgery!

idad, I admire your positive attitude! Two nanoseconds of Canadian techno would have made me smash my iPod to pieces!

H and I went for our usual run tonight, and we both were able to chit-chat without running out of breath. We were surprised that we finished the run in our best time!

On another note, a few days ago I had to dress officially for a meeting. To my (pleasant? unpleasant?) surprise, the size 6 Boss Black pants which I bought in December needed a belt! Now I feel positive that the little black dress which I ordered this week will fit! :D

Eddie, congrats on the two size jump in jean size! And BB, congrats to you on your size 6 pants needing a belt.

I ate off-program last night – S1 home for spring break and we had a little celebration. My weight bounced up three pounds this morning but I’m pretty sure it will come right back down. I figure a splurge every once in awhile keeps my metabolism guessing.

I’m still doing my 5k at 4.8 mph but it is getting easier and may be ready to increase the pace next week.

No weight loss this week.

Week 9 - 21 pounds lost.

Yea!

You are all awesome.

Interesteddad, you especially are doing great. You took on a huge challenge with the iPod Nazi, and you’re wearing him down, bit by bit, day by day. I predict that by June 1, you’ll discard the Nazi in favor of some home-grown programs that will put Mr. Nazi to shame.

Every time you do something, it gets easier for the next time.

I dunno. I have three months of iPod nazi workouts, three per week. I repeated Week One and I suspect there will be more points along the way where he’s going a little fast for me.

I’ve glanced ahead and his stuff gets “brutal” down the road. I think there’s little or not chance that it won’t be challenging enough. Plus, it all scales up with heavier dumbbells and a faster pace.

I may have to ultimately replace this old exercise bike for the interval training.

What’s CPK? I gone over every fast food restaurant or chain that I know–I’m not coming up with anything.

Bromfield, it is a publically traded company - a chain of restaurants mostly found on the West Coast. [CPKI: Summary for California Pizza Kitchen, Inc.- Yahoo! Finance](224098 (CPKI) Stock Price, News, Quote & History - Yahoo Finance)

If you have not eaten there, you have not lost much :)

No running for us tomorrow - we are going to be busy installing our new greenhouse!

Interesteddad, I didn’t realize it had different workouts; I thought you were doing the same thing over and over. Reminds me of the infomercials I see on TV about something called P90X. Or PX90. Or something. I know someone who did that routine – it’s 90 days of workouts, which you follow on DVD – who was quite satisfied. I guess you get out of it what you put into it, and you’re going to get a lot out of it!!

It has three months of workouts that get very demanding as they go along – with more difficult exercises for longer periods with less rest. I’m suspect that I will be doing each week twice and taking six months to get to the end. I’m realistic. I’ll just take it one week at a time.

This week will move to the next step – increasing to three repetitions from two for the same basic exercises, plus somewhat more demanding interval workouts.
