<p>Bats are protected under federal law. You can’t kill them but I doubt if they are “segregated” by cutting them off from the public.</p>
<p>I agree that they are not cute if they are in your home! We’ve had them in our attic and some have managed to get into the house proper. Crazy! We laugh now, but it really was gross. We keep a tennis racket by our bed at all times. And yes, it has been used!</p>
<p>One night when I was nine months pregnant, my H and I got into bed, turned off the light and heard a loud flapping above us! He quickly turned the light on and we saw a large bat dive to the floor and lay still. It was between the door and us. We had no idea what to do so my H grabbed some towels out of the armoire next to the bed and threw them on top of the bat to weigh it down. Then we got a box and a cookie sheet, threw the box over the towels and used the cookie sheet to force the bat and towels inot the box. I’ll never forget my H running through the house with the box and hurling it out the back door. Very brave!</p>
<p>Another time, I came home from vacation to find a big bat hanging upside down from the sheer drape in the dining room. Lovely! Antique houses have so much “charm”!</p>
<p>If you open windows, they usually will fly out.</p>
<p>I’m sorry, but having a party where there is a population of bats is unhealthy and not safe. You are potentially exposing people to rabies. According to the public health department,
If you comes in contact with a bat, or if a bat is found in your house without direct contact, or their guano, unless you can quarantine it/ them, you will have to under go rabies shots and they are not pleasant. I would look for another place, it does not seem to be a fit place for a party. And no they are not cute. It’s more trouble than it is worth.</p>
