That view! To die for!
I have an oak pedestal table, quite old, that has three leaves in my breakfast room. We donāt put the leaves in unless we are having a crowd. Our chairs, however, are only about 15 years oldā¦oak made on North Carolina. The old ones just werenāt very study.
This set is one of the things my DD wantsā¦itās where we eat everydayā¦so she will need to wait a bit!
Whoa @rockymtnhigh2ās view/house! A version of that has been on my vision board for several years, lol
Your tall piece against the wall is gorgeous
We have an eat-in kitchen with a table that seats 6 and 3 stools at the counter. The living and dining rooms are actually one large room, but weāve set off the DR with columns.
The DR table is an antique we bought years ago. It has leaves and can seat 12 with them all in. The table is used at all holidays and quite often when the girls come over with partners.
Right now, thereās a bunch of crxx on it from our trip that I need to make room for in the pantry or hand off to my sisters. It also functions as a sewing table and general collection area.
Iāve been saying for 30 years that Iād like French doors at the back, leading onto the deck. I donāt think thatās ever going to happen, though.
Youād think that with 3 dining spaces that Iād be using one of them. Nope. H is at our other place, so Iām eating dinner on the LR sofa.
Love the colored wall and fireplace!
Thatās gorgeous, Bunsen - the dark table, the view!
And the wine.
Okay, Iāll play, too. Hereās our rarely used dining room. Weāve been in this house for 3 years and have probably used the DR no more than 10 times, if that. I do wish I had bought a smaller table, though. We have a really big kitchen island for daily meals.
I LOVE your table and chairs!! And the contrast with the other pieces.
Omg! That view!
Nothing quite like a glass of wine in CA!
Me, too!
@rockymtnhigh2 if I had those gorgeous BIG windows with that view, Iād use it as much as possible.
Weāre doing some remodeling right now and we initially struggled with whether to repurpose our dining room or move the dining table to the living room. We just couldnāt figure out how to make it work in a way we liked, so weāre keeping the dining room but weāre repainting (the entire house interior) and changing out the chandeliers and ceiling fans.
I/We are fans of unconventional dining spaces.
As I mentioned our new-to-us house didnāt have an eat in kitchen or designated dining space besides the open concept living room where we didnāt want to park a big dining table. 90+% of the time itās jist me and H and we donāt entertain much.
So I work in progress with decor hereās what was a 4th bedroom, now is a dining space/office like space kiddie corner from our kitchen . (I do not like matchy stuff and like to combine different types of decor- still on the hunt for additional MCM chairs to be similar to the tall arched ones I have. Table is from the late 1800ās from the farm of an uncle. I have several leaves but can currently sit 8.
The closet we opened up for a ābarā cabinet
But our real fav dining spaces are open to nature : year around dining in the sun porch and outside dining by the pool or river as much as we can! I adore outside dining space
And finally this antique gateleg table that serves as a sofa table most of the time but we also open up one or both sides to eat at or to serve drinks/snacks when guests are over - itās right in the middle of our room flow!
Thatās an amazing deck, @abasket. Your house and property are lovely.
Thank you! There is another level of deck closer to the water but no dining space down there.
Amazing deck and water view, @abasket!!
