I am in Iceland now. Got here on WOW Airlines. No complaints. The crew uniforms are pretty cool! Kind of retro , with cool colors.
I find the discount airlines fine when it means I get a direct flight. I’ve flown Frontier to FL and AZ direct out of Cincinnati and will fly Allegient to LA. You do have to be careful of the extras but I’ve never been inconvenienced by not choosing my seat or not having a snack on the plane. You can pick that up at a snack bar in the airport after you’ve gone through security. Frankly, I prefer not to have carry on luggage. It’s just another thing to wrestle with on the plane when it’s the most chaotic. Since a checked bag can be larger, one checked bag can be more efficient than a carry on and I have to go by the baggage claim to get picked up or pick up a rental car anyway.
Ryanair is currently having an issue with a shortage of pilots and is having to cancel a number of flights.

I really don’t mind to pay for services as needed on those discount airlines. But at the same time, if I buy food in flight, the food should at least edible, the “Grilled Ham and Chiese” sandwich and “Fresh SQUEEZED” orange juice, I ordered was nothing but disappointment. Sandwich was lukewarm and was not grilled, orange juice was out of a bottle and probably from concentrated, much bitter taste.
Best to pick up some snacks before boarding IMO.
S’s flights on WOW were fine, but first flight left an hour late. It was one booking with an hour stopover in Iceland, but they went right off one plane and on to the next due to the timing. He thought it was fine. He checked one bag and it made it to the destination so he’s happy.
I addition to Spirit and Frontier cheap airlines in the US, Ryan air is similar overseas. Cheap base price but charges extra for everything.
