If you’re looking at scientific journalism there are, in fact, a number of colleges which are better at preparing you for that type of career. So if you’re rejected from Yale (which is, unfortunately more likely than not), your profile is excellent, and you are extremely likely to be accepted into any one of them.
The best part - the vast majority of the graduates of those schools really enjoyed their time, and were really well prepared for their careers.
