You are very well qualified with an interesting and well rounded list of accomplishments & activities.
oooh i missed national merit. They can go for free!! All in. wow!!
A safety isnât a safety if it isnât affordable. Youâre not going to want to go into a pile of debt to attend a school that you applied to as a âbackup safety.â
How about adding a school like U of Tulsa as another safety? Youâd get a guaranteed full ride as a merit semifinalist (even if you didnât make finalist, although itâs extremely likely that you will); semifinalists taking them up on this amazing deal comprise more than a quarter of each incoming class. They have both Chem and ChemE (and also a dual-degree International Science & Engineering program within which you could combine either of those STEM majors with a foreign language degree, and do a fully-funded five-year program that includes both study and internship abroad). Tulsa is a mid-sized university, which aligns with your apparent preference based on your overall list. And it would be even more affordable than Rutgers, without requiring you to live at home. Could be worth an app.
I know itâs late, but did you look at Delaware? They have some nuce scholarships for chemistry. Iirc, the Duponts are to thank for that. But perhaps a more exciting back up than commuting?
