Dishwasher cleaning agents

When you use vinegar do you put it in the rinse compartment?

I buy what ever is on sale.I prefer the packs with liquid inside (no reason )
p.s. it is not encased in plastic it is some other material and it should dissolve and be gone with each load. I doubt it will damage your dishwasher.I do not put the packet inside the compartment that opens during the washing cycle…I just drop it in as i close the door to the dishwasher.

My DW won’t release Rinseaid or Jet Dry on the light cycle, which I prefer. Liquid Cascade or Palmolive Eco, no film on glasses.

If you google around a bit there are some discussions on the ingredients in rinse aid and how they work.

Some say that vinegar is somewhat more acidic and actually rusts or degrades the components in the rinse aid container. Some green sites have you use hydrogen peroxide instead with a few drops of lemon oil.

I don’t know. But I am going to see if I can lower the amt the machine uses. In fact I’m going to do that right now.
