Just an update and a follow-up question…

My D was able to attend a dancer/character performer audition this weekend and was one of the final three girls at the end. So now she waits. For those whose kiddos received employment offers, can you tell me how long after the audition the offer came, how long they had to make a decision, and how soon Disney expected them to be available?

This is for full-time, not the college program.

Congrats to her!!!

My daughter was just never called. They say they keep their info on file for 6 months.

Thanks, missypie. We have heard that that is not uncommon.

If anyone has experience with receiving an offer, we would appreciate knowing what the timeframes were.

College, as you will recall in D’s case, she could not have accepted an offer, so she did not follow up in any way.

Actually, those who made it to the cut that was down to about 25 people or so were given a “next step” sheet, which, for full-time applicants, indicated they do NOT want the applicants to contact Disney. The need for clarity of the applicant’s email address and telephone number was stressed.

The kids we know who got offers didn’t wait all that long. A week or two I think. This was for Florida.princesses, Anaheim characters, and one prince in Paris.

Keep in mind that this was for an overseas Disney job… At the NYC audition, they cut down to 3 people and just told them they would “get in touch”. My D heard nothing, then got an e-mail about 4 months later offering her the job. I think she only had 1 week to decide. They sent paperwork back and forth and Disney got her a work visa. She was told when her contract would start with Disney, but was told the flight details were still up in the air. She got the specifics about 18 hours before her flight. Her original contract was for 6 months, but she decided to extend it for another 6 months so that she will have a nice bank account when she returns to NYC.

Thank you both - again, different experiences but helpful to know. They are nearing the end of their summer/fall audition tour for Orlando positions, so hopefully D will hear something in the next couple weeks.

My older son and some of his friends have done these auditions. It is indeed very much about body type, facial characteristics (for the face characters) and body movement. She also should look at auditioning for the Disney cruise line. It’s not easy work, but it is one of the better cruise gigs. Her dance abilities would be a bigger plus as she would be auditioning for the cruise stage shows.

Thanks, Georgia. She isn’t interested in the cruise ships. Just not a personality fit for her, although she has friends who do it and love it. She was told at the audition last week that one of the things they are actively casting for now is a stage show at WDW, so perhaps that is why they taught the final six dancers some very different and more challenging choreography.
