Update- We got back from our trip about a week ago. We enjoyed 4 nights at Disney and we were on the dining plan. We ended up being offered an upgrade to Coronado Springs from our value priced choice (long story). Disney split the difference in cost with us, and it well worth paying the extra money for the upgrade (we paid about $105 more in total). It really ended up making a big difference in our vacation. This was a last minute trip, so we did not get the free counter service dining, but having the hotel upgrade made me feel better about that. We had the one table service/one counter service per day plan. We ate at these places and they were chosen based upon our family’s voting process and available seating at the times we wanted:
Boma’s, Biergarten, Ohana’s, and Maya Grill-we ate dinners at all of our choices:
3 out of 4 of us thought Boma’s was our best meal. My two sons felt that Maya Grill had the second best dinner (parents disagree, but we remembered a meal that we had there years ago which was much better and with more dishes). Thanks for all of your help! We had a great time!

Additional tip: For counter service we felt that the informal restaurant in the Coronado Springs was a very good value and the food was enjoyable.

I’m heading to the Coronado Springs hotel for a trade show … my third trip to this hotel and this trade show. I do like the Pepper Market – the informal sort of food-courty restaurant, but the Maya Grill is very good and not much more expensive.

I generally meet business buddies for breakfast – and since we’re an informal group the Pepper Market works great. But … after a long day on my feet shopping, I really like to sit down in comfort and that’s the Maya Grill.

We are going up to see La Nouba in November. I thought maybe we would try the Todd English restaurant, Blue Zoo, in the Dolphin/Swan before the show. Anyone have any experience with that. Our show is at 9pm.

cnp, I found the Maya Grill to be comfortable too. We have eaten there 3 times. Years ago, they had intermezzo (it was deleted), the meal plan included appetizers (not Maya Grills fault, and we did know in advance, but this is not included any longer. We had some nice appetizers there as part of the meal plan in the past). We also enjoyed our desserts more in the past, but we might not have picked as well on this trip (not sure). I will say that my entree was not served hot as it should have been. Now that I gave my review, I will say that my sons loved their entrees at the Maya Grill.

The Pepper Market (thanks, I did not recall the name) is pricey, but we did not care since it was offered for counter service meals on the dining plan and this we felt was a very good value.

We had dinner at the Ragland Road last night. It was actualy better than we expected. Both of us had seafood, he had the “not chowder” and I had the salmon. Both were very good with good combination of flavors. When I asked for salmon medium rare instead of well done they delivered it properly cooked. Wine a little high priced but all told enjoyable. There was not floor show but we have been there before when the music and dancing were on and it is a nice touch.

I wanted to add that La Nouba is worth every single penny … all (approximately) 10,000 of them. I’ve seen it twice – once with a girlfriend and one with my H and sons on New Years Eve. It’s a different show depending on where you sit --my athlete son was just astonished and amazed with the gymnastics

I am very interested in seeing the La Nouba show. We have never seen Circe de Soleil at all before. I got tickets for all of us, hoping that my UF daughter will join us as well. Just need to find a good place to eat an earlyish supper before the show.

Be sure and say which Disney when you post. Those of us on the West Coast might think you are speaking of Disneyland and give you really bad advice…since you are going to the other one :)

La Nouba is sublime! We HAve eaten at the Todd English place Blue Zoo. I cant recall how we liked it but do recall it was out of the way to wherever we were headed after that. VAugue memory. I know that Wolfgang Pucks is close by to show. WE always enjoyed our meals there.

PS LoNouba was first Cirque Show I had seen. I have been to two shows in Vegas since and one in NYC. All good but none as outstanding and magical as LN! Enjoy it Seiclan.

OK…is the Prime Time Diner still in MGM? It was a 50’s style restaurant…served “home style” meals. I had the best pot roast I’ve ever eaten there…and my SIL had great meatloaf. The dining “experience” was loads of fun. I was there again a few years ago with a high school group and it was so much fun (waitstaff is like your “mom”…and the decor is very 50’s).

thumper1 ~ yes, it is still there. We have not tried it, as the “experience” isn’t what my family would enjoy, lol! But I usually hear that the food is good.
