DIY Wedding Set-up/Clean-up Question

One thing that took up a long time was table decoration. I like the photo idea. If you can get into the venue to measure the tables, you could presize and cut the table coverings, runners, etc so that all you have to do on that day is lay them out. This would save a lot of time vrs handing off thr roll of material for each table.

I already have the table sizes and am renting linens. Will probably use organza chair bows as table runners, or perhaps will make a couple myself – but if I make them, that happens now. Am trying to avoid shopping for anything except food the week of the wedding. I have to pace myself and cannot get wiped out and overstressed.

I have multiple spreadsheets going – timeline, vendor info, menu, kitchen/cleanup supply list, decorations list, etc.

One of my good friends who has done big events for SCA over the years realized this afternoon that she is going to be out of town the weekend of the wedding. She was going to be one of my go-to people that day. ACK!!

I am going to point out this thread. So many good ideas!

It sounds like you are organized, so things should turn out well. Runners: bro’s wife used some mesh net stuff as runners, and to coordinate the color theme. She had a lilac and pale green layered. One was more satiny. Then she scattered decorations atop the runner and placed the favors, flowers, etc. it looked great, but sizing and cutting that stuff took time. Plus we had a six year old helper who would run her hand over the cloths, to be helpful. She was redirected to scattering the little decorations. LOL. Good luck to the newly weds!

Countingdown, I can help you. It would be right up my alley, as I am crafty, particular and follow directions well. I would absolutely love it.

Eddie, you are so sweet! We should talk. I am working on the timeline right now, and DH is going to figure out the food timeline today as well. Of course, it will change a million times between now and then, but we need to figure out what we haven’t thought of.

CountingDown, can you hire some high school kids from your shul to help? I set up my own kids’ b’nai mitvah celebrations myself with help from just a couple of the catering staff in about two hours (of course, I changed at the shul). If you have standard 8-top round tables for only 70 people, that’s only 9 tables; it really shouldn’t take too long.

Yes, CountingDown, let’s talk. Firstly, I need the date to make sure it is not when I am vacationing. I probably live 45 minutes from you.

Sop14’s Mom, am going to try that route, but there are very few kids at our shul any more. Membership has really dropped.

We had our Bat Mitzvah parties at home, and those seemed a lot easier than this! I am expecting I will get dressed at the venue for the wedding – at least there is a shower there!

CD - Yes, accept local help. (I wish we all lived closer.) You don’t want to be so weary that you don’t enjoy the day.
