Do any of you have a gay friend/relative?

None of my really close friends are gay or bi, but I do have (and had in high school) several friends that are.

I don’t usually get along well with folks that have exaggerated personalities regardless of sexuality (I’m very easily annoyed), so the majority of my gay and bi friends are the folks that most people are surprised about when they find out.

Why?

family- my grandfather was gay (but married to a woman), my uncle is gay, and my mother is bisexual (married to my father). haha, seems we have a prominent gay gene in my family. i’m a lesbian
so…it goes w/o saying that i have more gay, lesbian, and trans friends than most straight peoples.

Myspace has made it a lot easier to find out who’s gay and who isn’t.

It seems that half my school is homosexual (literally… I probably shouldn’t say seems, as they are gay) but really, what’s the big issue? It’s actually good that I can attend a school and live in a society where everyone can accept one another, despite their differences.

sometimes knowing a friend, relative, or coworker is gay can help one to grow more tolerant.

I’m gay. I have several gay friends, of course. And, living in Atlanta, it’s not uncommon to see openly gay couples.

Why do you ask?

I had a good male friend in high school who was gay and now I have several gay friends in college. Also, my best friend just told me she now identifies as bi. Anyway, I love all my friends - gay or straight. Also, I’ve recently become addicted to Queer as Folk (I can’t believe Justin turned down my alma mater!!).
