S20 received a lot of emails asking something along these lines.
The way it worked for him was some (not all) colleges sent emails asking if he had made a decision or if he was still considering his options. Some schools sent that email once. Some sent it a few times. Some sent it often.
If he replied “still considering”, sometimes he’d be prompted to take a poll that asked a)how many colleges he applied to, b)what were his top 3,4 or 5 choices, c)multiple choice question asking what the final decision might come down to, like price, location, etc.
Once he clicked “Not going to your school” on the emails, he also usually received the same sort of poll.
