Collegemom16: Most college courses will satisfy one year of the “a-g” requirement, some might even satisfy more than one year of the requirement. For example, a semester of an appropriate art course will satisfy the one year requirement of Visual and Performing Arts. As a separate process, when we calculate the GPA UC transferable courses will be considered as part of the 8 allowed weighted GPA courses (Please see [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/askuc/answers/honors.html#1) for more information).

During admissions we do not differentiate between 3 and four unit courses; however, to meet “a-g” requirements the course must be 3 semester (4 quarter) units. Once admitted, if the course is UC transferable, the units will considered and a 3 unit courses will grant less units than a 4 unit course.
