I’ve already written a rought draft of my personal essay and that’s exactly what it was about MediocreStudent! And I find the two last posts together funny. I think I may actually study for it though.

I’ve done a lot of research about Harvard admission this summer, so I’ll share some tips
Okay so at Harvard, there’s an initial “gate” to filter out all the low-scoring students. With that ACT score, you are totally fine. Don’t waste the valuable few months you have studying to raise a number that won’t influence your application. After this gate, it’s who you are that comes into play.
Just keep that in mind.

It said first gen. Does it mean neither of your parents attended college?

That should help you with Ivies since they reserve about 10% for first gen.

You do need one or two more SAT IIs.

Yes, neither of my parents attended college. And thanks for the advice collegeinfo!

Where is your second SAT Subject test?

Extremely high reach (if ORM)
Moderate/High reach (if URM)

You surely have a chance with the scores, but it will now go down (depends on) your essay. Good luck.

I have decided to only send the ACT, since that’s above their 75th percentile. I’m done with my personal essay, now working on theirs!
