Do I stand a chance to get in?

bump dsfsdfsdf

My opinion is that it could go either way. Maybe not that much of a reach for you, but nobody can really tell you for sure. I was just suggesting how you go for it just in case, if you really desire to get in then no matter your stats, try all avenues. Even perfect scores aren’t guarantees into a college like this. I suggest that you google 2013 CMU accepted students threads, look at all the students who posted accepted stats for CIT and you will get a much better feeling of where you would stand.

metalflower what exactly are the other things, i just want to know because i really want to get into CMU ?
anyway AYEr07 i think u have a chance as long as u write outstanding essays then u have a great chance so dont worry and good luck :)

Well…

I signed up for early decision, had an ON CAMPUS interview. I was honest concerning where I was at in terms of scores. I didn’t make excuses. The adcom asked me to submit a supplemental activities resume. I sent that to her a few weeks later in the mail.

Also, I spent a month writing the essays.

I wrote about a parapsychological organization that I own, and how even though im criticized for it, I stay true to my goals and aspirations.

The other essay was why I wanted to go to carnegie mellon.
I was straight to the point here- no introduction, no conclusion. I split up the essay question into 3 different ones. Why CMU, why engineering, and why electrical engineering. I wrote about 2 paragraphs about each, and used a lot of metaphors to describe the way I think. If your why CMU? essay can apply to any other university, you’ve done it wrong.

I guess I had what they were looking for.

actually my why CMU essay applied for like 4 other colleges I applied to, and I got into all but one of them.

but yeah, listen to metalforever, my bad advice

One thing that is very important not to leave out, is that metalforever is probably female, applying to a department that is mostly male. Though CMU is definitely not 50/50 gender balance, I am certain that they do not want all men (and probably neither would you, college would be boring without women).

If your rank percentage was in the top 10% I would say you are in.
