Please look at this rubric and take it seriously http://admissions.ucsd.edu/dev3/info/comreview.html.

Verum: You have a great chance. You should retake your sat1s to get an even higher score to ensure your admissions and study for those sat2s since they are 2/3 as important as your sat1 score. The formula for points would be 0.8(sat1+sat2+sat2). I would highly recommend you get 300+ hrs of community service at more than one place, show some leadership somewhere, and show some nice awards on your application. Also, personal hardships (like a family death) can give you up to 500 pts (that’s a lot!).

Verum has every right to be scared. I would like to correct you a little (please don’t hurt me). As you can see in the rubric for UCSD admissions, it is very objective. Having a low income and being a first generation college student gives you a fat 600 point lead. Also, ELC gives you another 300 point lead. I personally got 7214/7426 towards admissions this year. My stats are: 3.9gpa, 1750 sat1, 690 math2c, 690 bio. If I had any of those three you had, I would’ve gotten in.

Adcomes ARE unpredictable, but UCSD’s adcoms are one of the easiest to predict. I have multiple friends that got into UCSD strictly through academics (2300 sat and 4.4 gpa). Using the formula, they already pass the cutoff of 7426, and that is not disputable (that’s why there are a lot of studious students at UCSD =P). UCSD admissions officers will throw your application in the “in” pile once you’ve passed 7426 points as they’ve said to my friend (they wouldn’t tell him his score).

Lastly, make sure you pick a non-impacted alternate major to ensure your acceptance. Comp Sci is impacted so you are basically going to need more than 7426 points to get in (the cutoff might be 7800). Good luck Verum. You have what it takes.
