My avatar is the Statue of Liberty’s torch. It’s a visible reminder that the people who
come to CC are looking for guidance, not judgment.
Agree, but mainly for one in particular.
I react positively to those with dog avatars.
LOL, @MassDaD68, I’ve been royally flamed on this site. I don’t know if people pay attention to gender or to screen names at all. I only remember the ones that are consistently wise, brilliant, stupid, braggocious, or annoying.
There, I gave myself an avatar to mess with people’s minds. Yes, this really is one of our cats. Vermeer did not paint him, however.
No one takes me seriously.
I also think it’s important to choose a picture that will encourage people to take your comments seriously.
That is why I chose Calvin. Doesn’t he just command respect?
well, I was inspired to put up a picture for my account (my name is not Daisy - I just think they are happy flowers). I do have a confusing name - Kiddie but I am actually the parent!
Well I like waterfalls and am technically challenged and can’t make it vertical so am leaving it horizontal. I also like OR, where I got my BA.
There’s just one whose screen name affects me. I giggle when I see it. People, look at how words may break. You might see Far To Go (or whatever), I see it all run together and wonder why somebody wants a user name that stats with “fart”
My avatar? Can’t think of a thing that symbolizes ordinariness like Grant Wood’s American Gothic.
I admit that I don’t like some of the screennames some kids choose like: TooPretty or 2Hot4U or some other vain choice. I made those up, but there have been screennames that just sound conceited and it probably does impact my responses.
The ones I don’t like are things like IvyDreams. The ones I notice most are the funny clever ones. I feel jealous that I wasn’t so clever.
I should’ve gone for SugarCookie.
The worst are ones with spaces. It took me a while to figure out that you have to put them in quotation marks if you want to attribute quotes to them or to @ them in a response.
I chose my name based on a conversation with D about how we’ll stay in touch when she’s in college. I told her not to call or text me too often because once she’s gone, I will happily return to my true passion, napping! Not sure that it inspires confidence in my comments though.
My name comes from the name of a sailboat I spent a lot of time on and have special memories of, not because I consider myself a dreamer. I don’t think most people would consider me one either. I’m too practical. :-S
Um. I’m in Iowa and I like books …
Drat! I was so sure you were emphatically declaring that You A Books
I still haven’t figured out how to take a pic of my 3 puppies that I like - they don’t sit still long enough to get them all in one shot. So I am sure I get negative bias for not having a pic.
I probably get positive bias from dog lovers, and negative bias from cat people.
