Do user names on CC impact people's responses?

Although I was too young to attend, @AboutTheSame’s pic reminds me of Woodstock.

@doschicos & @HarvestMoon1 : I am truly honored that you could attribute such coolness to that very old picture. Sorry to burst the bubble. It was the picture for my application to law school [back in the dark ages when schools could actually require a picture]. The pony tail [those wisps behind my neck] is ancient history, but I still part my hair in the middle and the mustache is now part of a carefully trimmed beard – oh, and it’s all silver [I can’t even pretend it’s salt & pepper any more]. Patagonia will have to wait for retirement. Got any great ideas for how to persuade my wife to let me buy a motorcycle?

The only way my DH will buy a motorcycle is with insurance proceeds following my death. I don’t want to know. No one I love will ever own a motorcycle if I have anything to say about it. Your wife is a wise woman.

Just buy it – they probably are not returnable!

My username was spur of the moment and somewhat unfortunate as it would be immediately recognizable to my family if they were inclined to go on CC. I’ve never used this username but it is similar to one used in our family and it is Czech. The image is my dog. I put this up when I replied to a post about dogs. I might have had a cat before; I don’t own a cat but I liked the image. I’ll probably change soon as I get bored of my avatars on a regular basis.

On another forum that I am active on (a sports forum), I was/am assumed to be male. I have been careful to maintain that assumption without actually lying that I am male. I write differently and avoid exclamation marks, lol.

@AboutTheSame Ask my husband because I caved after 30 years of marriage. Actually, I’ll give you the same advice I gave a friend who wanted to buy a sports car and whose wife was balking at the purchase. I told him to tell her he was having a midlife crisis and that the sports car was better than an affair and marital counseling. 10 days after taking my advice he had his sports car.

Have seen too many ugly outcomes from motorcycle accidents. Please just don’t.

I’ll never buy a motorcycle, because (a) I’m a small guy and my feet won’t reach the ground and (b) my balance at the age of 64 and counting ain’t what it used to be. But I can dream. @doschicos : I have owned (in succession) a 62 MGA, a 64 MGB, a 68 Fiat 850 Spyder, a 67 MGB, and a 69 Fiat 124 Spyder [in aubergine – the most beautiful car I ever owned while I waited by side of the road to AAA to come after it broke down again and again and again …) I’ve outgrown my sports car days, but I’ll rethink having an affair.

No to the affair!!

Have seen uglier outcomes from wives finding out about affairs. The morotcycle is safer.

Just kidding. I hope you knew that. We’ve lasted 30 years this June. Hasn’t always been easy, but I’m not tossing that away. :x

Phew! I can like you again.

Hope you picked up the sarcasm in post #109.

But just in case… what is your wife’s email address again??

@lookingforward, yes, @stevensmama also has a very charming guinea pig for an avatar.

@intparent - Ah, yes, but hers doesn’t dive, nor does it get out of jail free!

There’s also @dustypig who floats in and out of the Parent HS 2017 thread.

I wonder which animal is best represented on CC? Cats, dogs, guinea pigs…?

@LoveTheBard, lol, had forgotten about “get out of jail free”. But I expect hers actually belongs to her and is her beloved pet. Mine are photoshopped by someone on the internet.

Dang, @intparent. You burst my bubble. I thought in your free time you were teaching your guinea pigs how to swim laps.

Yes, it was my sweet Carmela. She died last July. :frowning:

@AboutTheSame when I see your avatar I always think you use words like “rootin’ tootin’” and have a cowboy hat just outside of the frame of the picture.

About the motorcycle-that’s how H and I met-he asked me to go for a ride on his motorcycle in college, and the rest was history. I also have my motorcycle license, but we sold our last bike about 3 years ago to make room in the garage for the girls’ car. We don’t think we’ll get another one, because the other drivers in cars have become so crazy dangerous, and because we’re both approaching the age (older than 55) where your chances of getting in a motorcycle accident skyrocket again (survived the under 21 on a motorcycle age, lol). A good friend of ours just sold his motorcycle and bought a sweet little roadster after a near miss (not his fault) at an intersection. He said he didn’t want God throwing any bigger pebbles at him about being time to go to 4 wheels instead of 2.

I also get bummed when @VeryHappy posts something sad. I’m always like, oh no, not the Happy Lady, she can’t be sad!

Sorry, @MotherOfDragons . It happens to the best of us sometimes.

But I am a glass-half-full person, no question about it.
