DH just did that too, @SeeksKnowledge, but first he tried unfreezing his credit with Equifax (the bureau SSA uses) and setting up the account online. After several phone calls to Equifax and SSA with Equifax saying they unfroze it & SSA saying it wasn’t, he went down to the SSA office to get his code. I’m glad I already set up my SSA account before I’m eligible for Medicare.
